Dear followers of the Church of the Assumption Catholic Women's League. It is with great sadness and regret that this is the last post from our page as our League is now inactive. What does that mean? It means that we did not have anyone step forward to be President, Vice President or Service chair and therefore we can no longer continue. Should this resolve itself in the near future then we will continue to post and keep you informed.

For all paid members, one thing we will be able to continue to do is have an Honour Guard should one of our paid members pass away and you will be remembered in prayer at the Necrology Mass at the various levels (Diocesan, Provincial and National) Please pass on this information and contact Betty Rae @ [email protected] if you would like to pay your membership and she will let you know what the Membership fee will be, or call the number in the bulletin.

Bill C-218, The Right to Recover Act, seeks to amend the Criminal Code to prevent Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) from being provided when mental illness is the sole underlying condition.

Without this amendment, MAiD for mental illness alone will become available in March 2027.

The Archdiocese of Toronto has launched a campaign to raise awareness and encourage Canadians to speak up in support of compassionate care and real mental health supports. We invite all CWL members to join this important effort.
