The country nourishes my heart. It has always been home for my family and me. A life wrapped daily in nature and all its splendor demands resourcefulness and creativity. I learned to sew out of necessity. I continue because it ignites my soul. My sewing skills improved as our four children grew into and out of a progression of hand-made clothes. Every stitch was sewn with love, even if I didn’t lo
ve every stitch. Wardrobes expanded; children became adults; my skills necessarily developed – as did my passion. It was my mother-in-law who introduced me to quilting. Her beautiful quilts – practical in nature and stunning in design – opened a whole new world of fabrics, colours and materials. I immediately began to turn out my own quilts. Though my first designs were simple, I sought out new patterns and new interpretations. To keep growing as a quilter, I took numerous courses and I logged countless joy-filled hours improving my skills. My love of quilting, my spiritual life and my work have become interwoven. I have been blessed with opportunities to create liturgical banners for several local churches and wall art for Marguerite Centre. I have also had the honor of teaching and leading quilting workshops, which allow me to share, guide and instruct others. Today, I enjoy experimenting with an unlimited variety of techniques, textures, colours and embellishments. I continue to learn and to grow. I am delighted to discover and share the direct thread between sewing clothes out of necessity as a young mother, and playing with fabric to make “one-of-a-kind” handbags, purses and wall art.
