The Phases of Love
What is love? This is a question a lot of us have asked at least once in our life. Maybe due to the circumstances, we found ourselves in. The spirit of the lord took the time to edify me on the subject.
The Bible tells us in the book of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
I also understand that love is like a child. It is conceived, goes through a gestation period, and is birth. After birth, we have infancy, teenage years, adulthood, and finally old age.
This is useful to understand how we fall in love and how that love should evolve with time. Seeing a person, we like could be characterised as the infancy stage, thinking about that person the gestation and finally getting into a relationship with that person birth. The birth of love.
That is love should naturally grow from the infancy stage where we still have doubts, and need a lot of support as a child should. As it gets to the teenage years there will be some turbulence which will naturally fade in the adult stage. This is the most important phase in human relationships. It is a place where there is a lot of trust, stability, and understanding. The fruits of the spirits as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13 are visible to all.
The phase of old age is a natural one but the most beautiful. It is a point that showcases the test of time, rest, and the fruitfulness of a union. The kids are all grown-ups, and the grandchildren are there to continue the circle. I pray anyone reading this letter will live long enough to experience this phase.
At what stage is your love?
