Just popping on here to check in with those of you who are not bubbling over with gratitude today. Whether you are sensing the darkness creeping in to the periphery, or feeling sadness, or just feeling nothing at all - here are a few steps that may help you accept where you are, and also add some hope.
Acknowledging - “today I feel *sad, depressed, empty, angry, etc.*”
Asking - “what do I need in this moment?” Do you need to slow down and become curious about what you’re feeling? Do you need to find a way to take a break? Do you need someone to listen to you as you share about what’s going on? Do you need to find something meaningful to do today? *journal (in handwriting!), send a note of encouragement, take a walk and notice the world around you, organize your desk, etc*
Action - give yourself a goal of one thing you will do today that matches your capacity *note: if your action includes self-isolation (different than solitude), it might be helpful to consider if that action leads you closer to the values you have.*
I took my granddaughter to feed chickadees at Beaver Creek recently - as you can see in the photo - and I give it ALL the stars for a rewarding experience!!
Be grateful for being willing to do some work today.
Be grateful that you are open to moving forward.
Be grateful that your beautiful brain has the ability to make new pathways when you take a small positive step today.
(See how I sneakily turned this into a happy thanksgiving post? … sending you a smile and a prayer for hope.)
