Enjoy these moments from our recently concluded Retreat! From July 16–19, we gathered at the peaceful Liebenzell Mission Centre in Moffat for a refreshing time of worship under the theme, “Keep Your Lamps Burning in the Homeland” (Luke 12:35).

We were blessed to receive rich biblical teaching from our partners at Vision Ministries Canada, alongside other speakers, who challenged and equipped us for effective mission in Canada. We give all the glory to God for a truly memorable weekend and pray for the grace to shine brightly—living out our faith as lamps set on a stand, bringing Christ’s light to everyone around us.

A contingent of members from ECWA Toronto had the humbling privilege of visiting the gravesite of Margaret Gowans—the praying mother whose faith and surrender helped shape the story of ECWA. Though she never went to the mission field herself, her unwavering burden for the unreached led her to offer her own son, Walter Gowans, to God’s service, inspiring a missionary movement that would eventually give birth to SIM and, by God’s grace, ECWA.

Standing at her resting place reminded us that some of God’s greatest work begins not on the mission field, but in the quiet place of prayer and complete surrender. We thank God for a woman whose obedience continues to echo through generations, and we pray for the grace to carry the same burden for the nations. “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” — Matthew 9:37
