On September 24, trustees and congregation members met at the Grande Fresniere cemetery to conduct maintenance and an autumn cleanup. Not only was trimming around the headstones done, but also some long overdue headstone cleaning, using a gentle horse shampoo called “Mane and Tail”. This cleanser is a recommended tool to help remove grime and some of the ravages of time, including the ever invasive lichen that tends to accumulate on most stone markers in graveyards. Our next task will be acquiring a product called “D-2”. This cleanser is highly recommended for cleaning headstones of all stone types.

CATS AND RABBITS!

After the tornado destroyed our church, and we were busy cleaning up the debris, trustee Margaret MacMillan found this brick with a clear left forepaw print of a cat. Obviously, the little rascal strutted his stuff back in 1854-55 through the unfired bricks being made to build the church, and they used it anyways! As for the rabbit, you can see the cat's-paw print displayed on Margaret's "rabbit-eared splindle backed" chair, built in a little furniture shop in St. Andrew's East, in about 1870.

And to think "buy local" is a new thing.
