🧡 NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION 🧡
Today, we pause to remember and honour the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities through the residential school system. We remember those who never returned home, we honour the Survivors, and we recognize the lasting impact this history continues to have on families and communities today.
As a church, we also recognize that Christians and churches were part of this painful history. We believe reconciliation requires more than words. It calls us to listen, to learn, to acknowledge what happened, and to walk together with humility, compassion, and love.
Today we pray for Survivors, families, Elders, and Indigenous communities across Canada, including our neighbours and friends in Long Lake #58 First Nation and Ginoogaming First Nation.
May we be people who listen well, love deeply, seek peace, and demonstrate the heart of Jesus in the way we treat one another.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
Matthew 5:9 CSB
