Wolves always teach “Jesus + something.”

They may talk about Jesus. They may use Scripture. They may even sound incredibly spiritual.

But somewhere along the way, there is a “plus.”

Jesus + works.
Jesus + the law.
Jesus + a particular practice.
Jesus + an institution.
Jesus + human performance.

And that “plus” eventually becomes something you are told you must do, believe, follow, possess, or perform in order to truly be saved, accepted by God, secure in your salvation, or considered spiritual enough.

That is where we need to be discerning.

The Gospel is not Jesus plus what we accomplish.

It is Christ and His finished work, received by faith.

Paul makes this very clear:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God; not as a result of works.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9, NASB

And Galatians 1:8–9 gives us a very serious warning about preaching another gospel.

Here’s the thing: wolves don’t always stand up and say, “Jesus isn’t enough.”

They’re often much more subtle than that.

They say “Jesus… PLUS.”

And if the thing being added becomes a requirement for salvation, acceptance, or spiritual standing before God, we have a serious problem.

Now, let’s be clear. Obedience matters. Holiness matters. Repentance matters. Discipleship matters. Good works matter.

But those things are the fruit of salvation—not the price of salvation.

Jesus doesn’t need our help finishing what He already finished.

Jesus is enough
