The Situation:
Our boiler has been consuming excess water lately and steam is exiting where it shouldn't. Our service technician arrived today to inspect the system and has discovered a significant crack in one of the main sections. The boiler has been shut down as it is no longer safe. Repair plans are being made but it will take at least a few days to formulate a full plan.
Impact:
We will not have our usual steam system to heat the West portions of the building for some time, probably a few weeks or longer. Facilities is working on mitigation plans to avoid damage from freezing water, alongside plans for repairing the lack of heat. It is likely that you will notice the Sanctuary, West Wing and Gym spaces to be much cooler than usual. Please go ahead and dress warmly and keep your jackets on as needed!
Reminders:
First, God knew this was coming - we need not panic. Second, this is a big failure but it happened in such a way and at such a time that no people were injured and no building damage has occurred. Third, we have a great facilities team taking immediate action alongside the support of our service provider so we are in good shape!
It will be colder than we like, but our praises can still rise up and we can still connect, grow, and serve. :) We will continue to provide updates as things develop. The next planned update will be Sunday during our announcements.
