There is a difference between being hated because we follow Jesus…and being disliked because we are acting unlike Him.
Biblical Christianity doesn’t teach that every form of opposition is persecution for Christ’s name. Scripture makes an important distinction.
Believers are blessed when they suffer for the sake of Jesus, for standing upon truth, righteousness, and the Gospel. Matthew 5:10 says “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” This does not say that believers are blessed for sinful behaviour, arrogance, or self-righteousness.
Peter touches on this “But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.” - 1 Peter 4:15-16
