Jael leads worship with a voice that is as warm and genuine as she is. She’s a nurse, a busy mom, and somehow also opens her home every week to run a mom and kids group, and co-hosts Monday night small group on top of that.⁣⁣⠀

She’s quiet, but there’s a lightness and joy about her that’s hard to miss. When she speaks, in small group or in conversation, it comes from a place of real compassion and care. She sees people.⁣⁣⠀

Rich spoke yesterday, about the importance and blessing of small groups, amidst all the hard stuff like finding time to get to one and navigating messy relationships. ⁣⁣⠀

Small groups are a safe place to ask questions, grow spiritually, learn how to pray, teach and prophesy. They offer a connection to the church body that you just don’t get from showing up on Sundays. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
And hospitality changes the ones who open their homes too. Rich and Heather testify to the exponential growth he and Heather have experienced by hosting small groups over the years. ⁣⁣⠀

This Sunday we had the gift of hearing from Richard, one of the founders of Crossroads. He doesn’t preach often these days, but on Sunday he had something to share about courage and responding to the Holy Spirit before fear catches up. ⁣⁣⠀

Richard has been part of this church from the very beginning, from planting it to the present. He has been here through every season. He helps lead a small group, serves for communion prayer, shows up for sound duty and maintenance projects and all the many small things that keep a community running. He sees what others sometimes miss. Crossroads is in his bones. ⁣⁣⠀

This past Sunday we had the honour of setting Jesse in as our Youth Ministry Leader. ⁣⁣⠀

Jesse has already been investing in our youth and our church for a while now, but this made it official. ⁣⁣⠀

We are so thankful for Jesse’s heart for Crossroads and for community and especially for the group of youth that gets to be discipled and encouraged by her. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣Nerissa teaches Sunday school way down in the basement and shows up for her hospitality slot to make coffee and share incredible things like lemon cake. There is something genuine and down-to-earth about the way she serves. She just gets involved and makes it easy to be around her. ⁣⁣⠀

Her kids are musical and involved in stuff too, which shows how she’s shared the importance of a life full of music and connection and serving. ⁣⁣⠀

Nerissa’s smile is contagious and her laugh is too. She’s here, not because she has to be, but because she wants to be part of community and serves from that naturally.⁣⁣⠀
