The sacrament of Communion is many things to many people: a memorial meal; an intimate moment with the transcendent; an echo of a hoped-for world where all are provided for — no ifs, ands, or buts.

At Q***r Midnight Mass, ours is an open table, where all people are invited to participate. You don't need to have been confirmed or baptized, you don't need to feel special or worthy, you don't need to repent of anything. Whether you describe yourself as Christian is up to you too! We believe that God pours out Their love on all people exactly as they are, and calls us into a world where all may be nourished and enjoy the wonders of the Universe.

Of course, you may also participate by witnessing, meditating, or any number of other actions. That you are with us in the first place is gift enough.

Two days! While other things have gotten in the way of writing a properly poetic spiritual reflection, it's important to touch on this topic anyway.

Reclaiming church is a vital component of what we do at Q***r Midnight Mass. It's beautiful and radical to take over these spaces that have so often denied our full humanity, and re-imagine them into safe containers where a truly q***r spirituality can shine through the layers of ancient tradition.

Q***r Midnight Mass aims to be a judgement-free space. If you feel called to stand, sing along, and take communion, that's wonderful! If you need to just sit quietly and vibe, that's a valid form of participation in and of itself. If you have to slip out of the space for whatever reason and come back - or not - that's okay too.

There is room for all in the shelter of Divine Love. We hope to see you there. ❤

Merry Christmas to our q***r and trans companions, our families of blood, choice, and faith, and our loved ones everywhere. Whether you celebrate alone or with others, or even if you're just gritting your teeth and getting through this day, we offer you these words of hope (reprised from last night's planned post-communion prayer) for healing, true community, and a better tomorrow.

Q***r Midnight Mass is unfortunately over for 2024, but we're active in our q***r & faith communities all year round. We hope to host more q***r spirituality-related events throughout the year, both churchy and otherwise, with friends from a variety
of spiritual traditions.

May this be a safe, restful, and blessed time for all our neighbours — q***r and otherwise, of any faith or none. From all of us who have worked to make this event happen: merry Christmas, happy holidays, and we'll see you soon.

BREAKING NEWS — Unfortunately, we've had to cancel Q***r Midnight Mass this evening due to adverse weather. It breaks my heart not to be able to offer it this year, but road conditions are still quite difficult, and the well-being of our community is the most important thing.

For anyone who's still in need of some q***r spirituality, Tamsin will be livestreaming some of the content of the service from their personal Instagram account around 10:30 this evening, and we'll try to share the result here (since this is a new account, neither our Instagram nor our FB page are eligible for livestreaming yet).

We will definitely be back next Christmas, and we hope to hold other q***r spirituality events (with friends from multiple faiths) throughout the year. Until then, merry Christmas and happy holidays, and we'll see you soon!

Q***r Midnight Mass is tonight!

No lengthy spiritual reflection today, as there's a lot to get ready, but we do hope you'll join us to experience a vision of the Christmas story that wraps our q***r hearts in its embrace and empowers us with visions of a kinder world.

We understand that significant snow is expected over the Kjipuktuk/Halifax area this evening. We're powering through and doing our best, but because this event is (as before) run with a skeleton crew, we're unfortunately not able to offer a livestream.

In this reflection, we tackle a difficult topic with as much grace as possible (words perhaps slightly minced because our reach on social media is still quite small, but hopefully the meaning is clear).
