Please join the Anishinabe Spiritual Centre as they celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas. Our Blessed Mother came to a faithful Indigenous man in Mexico in 1531 and spoke no kinder words, "Let your heart not be disturbed..." Today, her importance is so great that her image has become a national symbol of Mexico. Her message has brought millions to the faith and her image is miraculous! Come and hear what these miracles are, enjoy a meal (pay only what you can) and celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Mass will be held in the upper chapel on Thursday December 12th at 5pm. Dinner at 6pm followed by the movie from FORMED entitled "The Miracle and the Message". Donations welcomed

Press Release
The Future of Villa Loyola: A Transition Toward Community Leadership
Sudbury (Ontario), November 6, 2024 – Villa Loyola has long been a cornerstone of spiritual and educational life for the Francophone community of Northern Ontario. Today, the Jesuits of Canada announce their intention to transition Villa Loyola to new local leadership, ending their direct ownership and administration by July 31, 2025.

This decision follows a three-year process of communal discernment in response to current realities such as aging membership, declining vocations, and increasing financial constraints. Given these challenges, it is no longer feasible for the Jesuits to continue managing Villa Loyola while also sustaining other critical ministries.

"This decision has not been made lightly; it reflects our ongoing commitment to ensure our mission is sustainable in the regions where our impact is needed most," said Father Jeffrey S. Burwell, SJ, Provincial of the Jesuits of Canada. "We understand that this may be a challenging transition, and we are here to support those who have built their spiritual lives around Villa Loyola."

Despite this transition, the Jesuits of Canada remain committed to the Great Lakes region and are refocusing efforts on strengthening pastoral ministries on Manitoulin Island, serving the Indigenous communities. The hope is that Villa Loyola continues to serve as a center of spiritual growth and education for generations to come.

The Jesuits are actively seeking potential buyers among their current collaborators within the local faith-based and Indigenous communities who share their Catholic and Ignatian values. The Jesuits will engage with them in discerning the future of Villa Loyola. If no acceptable plan is received by January 31, 2025, then Villa Loyola will be placed upon the open real estate market.

The Jesuits of Canada are committed to accompanying members of the community through this process with care and compassion and to keeping them informed of the next steps throughout this transition.
