We continue to journey with Jesus in this most Holy Week.

On April 3rd there will be a Good Friday service, where we bear witness to Christ’s suffering on the Cross. This difficult, but deeply meaningful, act of worship takes place at 10.30 am.

On Easter Sunday, April 5th we will rejoice at the empty tomb, and give thanks for the risen Christ. Again worship will take place at 10.30am.

Don’t forget our annual Community Christmas Carol Sing is happening this weekend. Join us on Sunday Dec 14th at 4pm to sing some carols and Christmas songs. As a sneak peak we can confirm that if Joy to the World is your favourite carol, you will get a chance to sing it. We are also going to be heading over to jingle bell square for some Jingle Bell Rock, and finally as is tradition, Marv and his bass guitar will lead us when we sing Go Tell it on the Mountain. It promises to be a wonderful hour as we fill the sanctuary with beautiful music. We hope to see you there!

You are invited to join us in worship, on the most sacred of nights, as we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child once again.

At 5pm you can hear the sound of handbells fill the sanctuary, with our choir leading us in song. Please note that this year this service will be flame free.

At 6.30pm our choir will lead us in song and we will once again gratefully welcome renowned tenor John Tessier as our guest soloist. We will continue our candle lighting tradition at this service.

At 8pm we will celebrate communion as well as lighting candles during ‘silent night.’

Mark your calendars!! Our annual Christmas Carol Sing returns on December 14th at 4 pm. This event is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit as our talented musicians come together to lead us in singing Christmas Carols and secular seasonal music. Under the twinkling lights of our Jesse tree the amazing musicians of RUC will also offer beautiful anthems for our enjoyment. Everyone is welcome, from Edmonton Opera level singers to singing off key in the shower singers. When we join our voices together celebrating the birth of Jesus, it truly is a beautiful sound. Come for the carols and enjoy the fellowship. Hope to see you there.

Coming soon….. make sure you save the date for another evening of Marvelous Music. Enjoy our talented musicians share songs from the 60’s, 70’s and beyond. You are bound to find something to sing along to, from ABBA to Elton John, from Fleetwood Mac to Joni Mitchell and so much more. Please join us for this free concert which promises an evening full of joy and laughter ( and possibly some dancing 🕺). It is one of the highlights on our church 📅

The United Church of Canada will offer an historic apology for ways in which the denomination has hurt and harmed 2S and LGBTQIA+ communities within and beyond the United Church. The apology will take place in the context of a special livestreamed worship service on Friday, August 8. The service will be held at Knox United Church, 506 4 St. SW, Calgary, Alberta at 9:00 am MT.

How you can take part in this historic moment of truth, healing, and solidarity:

● Attending General Council (GC45)?
All participants will attend the apology worship service. A closed lunch space with chaplains and Equity Support Team members will be available for 2S and LGBTQIA+ GC45 attendees.

● In Calgary but not at GC45?
Join an in-person gathering at Knox United Church, hosted by Affirm United and Affirming Connections. Pastoral support and refreshments will be available.

● Joining online?
Stay in the Zoom room after the service for a group conversation, or request individual support from the Equity Support Team via chat or [email protected]. The full bilingual worship liturgy will also be shared online.

● Want to gather locally?
Regional councils and communities of faith may be hosting local group watch gatherings. Contact your region to find one near you.
