Community Garden - Sunshine Vines

As a parish we began to talk about developing a community garden as part of our Parish Mission Action Plan. We will keep you updated as we go along!

Our priest met with an individual from Edmonton Multicultural Coalition and discovered they were interested in starting a community garden. Our vestry decided to go ahead with a community garden. We are currently in the process of writing a grant for May 31 so that we can launch a garden by the middle to the end of June. Our community garden will be located on the property of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church.

The community garden is happening again this year. We only have a few garden beds, so if you are interested we will need to fill out an application form and submit the fee. Plots are assigned a first come and first serve basis. If you would like an application form please let me know ass soon as possible. e are not sure when the opening date for the garden will be. We are waiting to see how cooperative the weather is being.

Community Garden planting is about to begin! Thank you to the awesome neighbourhood kids and a grandmother who helped me transport 20 tomatoes, pepper and basil plants and assorted seeds!!! Can't wait to start! All are welcome!!

Hi All! Great news! We have received a grant from Sustainable Foods Edmonton for our community garden.. So thinkings are quickly picking up steam. Tonight, July 10 at 7 pm we are building and staining the garden. Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 11 we move the soil into the gardens, and Thursday, July 12 we are planting... All are welcome to come and join us! Garden registration forms will be available starting tomorrow.

We have received a donation of Tomatoe plants, a few bell pepper plants and some basil for our community garden. They and their human friends are waiting to hear about our grant so the humans can start building the raised beds.

Grant has been submitted!! Waiting begins and as we wait we will take care of a wonderful donation of tomato plants to begin our garden. We have also begun quite the collection of seeds! And we also have an offer of lumber to build our raised gardening beds. We will keep you updated as we set a date to have a planter building party!! Please share our page and help us get the word out about this exciting project.
