The CVRD has moved to Stage 2 Watering Restrictions!

Effective Tuesday, June 2, 2026, all Cowichan Valley Regional District water systems are moving to Stage 2 water restrictions in an effort to conserve watering in anticipation of continuing drought conditions. Shellwood and Dogwood water systems are moving to Stage 3 water restrictions.

In Stage 2 all outdoor watering, including sprinkling and conventional irrigation systems can occur up to 2 hours maximum, one designated day per week between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 a.m.
💦 Even numbered addresses: Wednesday
💦 Odd numbered addresses: Sunday

Hand-watering, micro/drip irrigation subject to daily maximum for food or ornamental gardens is allowed. Watering in the morning or evening is always best as it reduces water lost to evaporation.

God of the Rainbow,
More than those who watch for morning,
Our souls wait, for the day when each of us,
of every gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation
knows that we are meant to be:
loved, cherished, and protected; and
that we are to be:
proud of our identities; and
celebrated.

For we are your imperfectly perfect children,
called to reflect Christ’s radiant light,
embody Christ’s radical love; and
build your beloved community,
especially when storms of fear and hatred rage around us.

And so, more than those who watch for morning,
we, in our great diversity,
wait for your promised rainbow of peace,
as we work towards a world where every gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation is affirmed as beloved; and,
every soul’s spirit is able to sparkle, shine and sing your dream with pride.

Help us make Handsome Day extra special for the men in our community 💚

We’re collecting donations of new and unopened personal care items to help create care kits and giveaway gifts for our male family members during our Handsome Day celebrations on the 19th of June.

From cologne and deodorant to electric shavers, nail clippers, shampoo, body wash, and other grooming essentials — every item donated helps someone feel seen, valued, cared for, and celebrated.

Handsome Day is about more than gifts. It’s about dignity, confidence, belonging, and reminding the men in our community that they matter.

Donations can be dropped off at our Community Centre at 📍919 Pandora Avenue.
Please let staff know the items are for the Handsome Day celebrations.
