In 2 Timothy 1:6 St Paul writes a line to his young friend that many pastors need reminding of regularly: “Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of hands.”

I have it engraved on the inside of my Priest’s ring so I remember each day that what is placed on me, carried in the long faithful history of the church’s ministers, invites me to keep breathing in the goodness of God and allowing that to bring life alive in and through me.

It really is a gift when someone leaves a review of your book. I’m learning that writing is a project of hope - reviews tell you whether what you hoped you were saying “landed”.

Please drop a line or two over on Amazon or Goodreads for “Hearing in the Dark” once you’ve read it. Cody and I would really appreciate it.

If you haven’t grabbed a copy yet, they are available in print and digitally at Amazon too.

So grateful for reviews like this of “A Fire in Our Ears”. Not just because they are kind but because it captures so well what I hoped readers would find in the book.

If you get a copy, please do leave a review on Amazon. It means the world to me.

Today’s treat: Bradley Jersak reading sections of my new book “A Fire in Our Ears”. It’s available now on Amazon.

Let me know if Bradley’s right, because I think the book sounds better in his accent.

I love this quote from Alexander Schmemann that I use in “A Fire in Our Ears”. With Ascension Day being this week, notice how he ties together Jesus’s Ascension, the Eucharist meal, and the Church’s mission.

A Fire in Our Ears is now available on Amazon in digital or print formats.

Watching the book appear in people’s hands is a strange feeling after carrying the book as an idea and then as draft and finally as a manuscript. But it’s a surprise to see it as the #1 new Christian book on Amazon Canada.

Thanks so much for buying it friends. I’m deeply encouraged that you are doing.

It was a gift to talk about my new book with Bradley Jersak. The conversation grew into something bigger, about how we preach and gather as God’s people in worship

The whole conversation is on my substack and the book A Fire in Our Ears is available on Amazon
