Guest speaker Robby Sidhu, Director of Communications for Fresh Start Recovery, the charity of choice for our 2023 Metaphysical Christmas Candle Lighting Ceremony will share information about Fresh Start Recovery and how the program of recovery helps individuals who are affected by addiction find a connection with a Higher Power and work the steps to return to the principles and values within. Robby was present at Candle Lighting Ceremony, and he commented on the similarities between the philosophies of Unity of Calgary and those he has witnessed being an alumnus of Fresh Start and a person in recovery himself.
Bio
Robby Sidhu is a person in recovery and is an alumnus and is the Director of Communications for Fresh Start Recovery. He is an active member of the recovery community, volunteering and sharing the program of recovery with others. He communicates on behalf of Fresh Start Recovery to share the message of hope, triumphs, and helps bring light to the faces and the voices of people in recovery and the Fresh Start Community. Throughout the year, helps plan events, all in hopes of bringing the Recovery Community, Families and Community at large together to help break down the barriers and stigmas related to Recovery from Addiction., so that others can find the help they so desperately seek without the fear or shame surrounding living a life in recovery.
Description of Fresh Start Recovery
Fresh Start Recovery is a nationally recognized organization seen as a leader in the addiction sector. Established in 1992 with locations in both Calgary and Lethbridge, Fresh Start continues to provide solutions that recover lives by housing, treating, and supporting individuals and families who are affected by addiction. Our insight, compassion and understanding of addiction and recovery allow us to not only offer our clients a safe refuge from addiction but also engage them to become part of our Recovery Community. Continuum of care through our Outreach Department and Post-Treatment Housing ensures we are able to support our Alumni in the next phases of recovery and help them reach their goals and eventual integration back into the community
