Wandering Travelers Guiding Wandering Travelers (that's all of us!) to Soul-Filling Rhythms in the midst of everyday life. Something had to change.

Wandering Travelers began with a longing for more for myself (Kellen) and others. A longing for a spiritual life that gave rest to the soul and deepened the experience of life in the midst of the everyday experience. After nearly 10 years of being a local church pastor, one of the most frustrating things was seeing (in others) and experiencing (in myself) the disconnect that happens between "Sunda

y Mornings" and the "rest of the week". No matter how motivating the sermon, or captivating the worship experience -- my own, and other's lives quickly gave way to the demands and pace of the work/family-life/commuting week. For me, that meant resignation from my role as a local church pastor -- but NOT from my calling. In fact, I feel more passionate about my calling than ever. I want to see Christians who have grown tired of not experiencing "life to the full" throughout their week discover that it really is possible! I want friends (and strangers) who don't know Jesus to tangibly witness the Life He offers -- rather than a Christianity that doesn't really look much different than everything else around. So that's what I did -- I resigned -- My wife and I sold our house and most of what we owned. We decided a pilgrimage of rediscovery was needed for us and our 2 kids. So we bought a trailer and a truck and we got ready to head out on our . But it's not just about the physical trip ... for long after that trip is done, the journey will continue and I hope you'll come along with us and together discover rhythms that give life to our souls. PLEASE JOIN US as we learn to slow down, and sink into the refreshing, purpose-giving presence of Jesus through contemplative practices, and simple daily reflections as we wander on our travels. I (Kellen) will be your "WANDERING GUIDE" -- wandering along with you while hopefully offering some guidance from my own life along the way:

"give us this day our daily bread"

None of us have done anything to deserve or earn this day...God gives life by his grace. Receive from Him and abide in Him today.

Become aware of God's presence this morning and rest in Him who gives that which we could never gain with all our striving and desperate attempts.

"Man puts his hand to the flinty rock and overturns mountains by the roots. He cuts out channels in the rocks, and his eye sees every precious thing. He dams up the streams so that they do not trickle, and the thing that is hidden he brings out to light. "But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its worth, and it is not found in the land of the living. The deep says, 'It is not in me,' and the sea says, 'It is not with me.' It cannot be bought for gold, and silver cannot be weighed as its price. "From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?

It is hidden from the eyes of all living and concealed from the birds of the air. Abaddon and Death say, 'We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.' "God understands the way to it, and he knows its place. And he said to man, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.'"
Job 28:9‭-‬15‭, ‬20‭-‬23‭, ‬28 ESV

David says: 'this knowledge is too wonderful for me'.
Take time today to be still, know that God is present with you...and try to simply rest and let His hand be gently upon you.

Reminded of His great faithfulness as my quiet was "interrupted" by these two!

"give us this day our daily bread"

Lord teach me the freedom of dependence.

(I will hop on video to unpack this prayer from my time this morning when I have a stronger connection)

what are you laboring for? Is it all for mere 'fire' or is it all for His glory?

Dwell on this verse and become aware of His presence.
Pray for His kingdom to come and his will to be done in your life today...surrender to His will.

A powerful, and 'dangerous' prayer if you mean it. O Lord help me trust and obey!

Try this simple exercise to re-orient your view of yourself to how God sees you.

Using this common introduction that Paul uses in many of his letters:
"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God."

1) Switch your Paul for your own name
2) Switch "apostle" with one or two of the main roles you fulfill (husband/wife, parent, emloyer/employee etc)

Now re-read.
What might change in how you fulfill these roles if you learn to see them as God-given roles to you a Beloved Child of God?

(Not sure if I can get a good enough connection tonight for a guided meditation...if I can't I will at least post something to help you sink deeper into your identity in Christ)

(this practice was taken from something I was reading by M. Robert Mulholland Jr.)
