ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
By Revd. Dr. Victor Adelaja
Accountability and responsibility are indispensable virtues in the life of every believer. Responsibility is the willingness to do what is right and fulfill our God-given assignments, while accountability is the readiness to answer for our actions, decisions, and stewardship.
God expects us to be faithful stewards of the opportunities, resources, and relationships He has entrusted to us. Many people desire authority, promotion, and blessings, but few are willing to embrace the responsibility and accountability that accompany them.
The Bible declares: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (Holy Bible). Faithfulness is measured not merely by what we achieve, but by how responsibly we handle our assignments and how accountable we remain before God and others.
A responsible person does not make excuses; he takes ownership. An accountable person does not hide mistakes; he learns, grows, and makes corrections. When accountability is absent, progress is hindered; when responsibility is neglected, destinies are delayed.
As believers, let us cultivate a lifestyle of integrity, diligence, and transparency. Let us be responsible in our homes, workplaces, ministries, and communities, knowing that one day we shall give an account of our stewardship before God.
Prayer:
Father, grant me the grace to be responsible in all my duties and accountable in all my actions. Help me to faithfully fulfill every assignment You have committed into my hands, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Today's Charge:
Take responsibility for your duties and remain accountable for your actions; greatness is built on faithful stewardship.
