Sermon Title: The Will of God Upon Man
Main Scripture:
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Introduction
Every believer must desire to know and walk in the will of God. The will of God is not hidden from us; it is revealed through His Word, His Spirit, and His dealings with us. To live outside of God’s will is to live in confusion, but to live in God’s will is to walk in peace, purpose, and blessing.
1. God’s Will is Sovereign and Perfect
• Isaiah 55:8–9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.
• God’s will is higher, wiser, and always better than what we can imagine.
• Sometimes we pray for things that are outside of His will, but God, in His love, redirects us to what is best.
2. God’s Will is for Our Salvation
• 1 Timothy 2:3–4 – “God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
• The first and most important part of His will is that every man should repent and be saved through Jesus Christ.
• Without salvation, we cannot fully walk in His purpose.
3. God’s Will is Our Sanctification
• 1 Thessalonians 4:3 – “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.”
• Beyond salvation, God’s will is that we live holy and set apart lives.
• Holiness protects us from destruction and positions us for God’s blessings.
4. God’s Will Guides Our Daily Living
• Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
• God’s will is not only about the big picture but also about our daily decisions.
• As we pray, study His Word, and listen to the Holy Spirit, He directs us in business, relationships, and life choices.
5. Submitting to God’s Will Brings Peace
• Philippians 4:6–7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation…present your requests to God. And the peace of God…will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
• When we surrender our plans to God’s will, we find peace, even when circumstances are difficult.
• Jesus Himself prayed in Luke 22:42 – “Not my will, but yours be done.”
Conclusion
The will of God is not a burden but a blessing. It is good, pleasing, and perfect. If we seek Him daily, surrender to His guidance, and live in holiness, His will becomes clear in our lives.
