WE NEED ANOTHER PENTECOST!

By Rev Jobe Repent Koosimile

Scripture reference: Acts 2:1-8, Joel 2:28, Matt 3:11

📌The feast of Pentecost or Weeks from Hebrew tradition is a festival to celebrate harvest. This day came fifty days from Passover. See Exod 34:22, Lev 23:16.

1️⃣In the New Testament, this same day, marked the official commissioning of the Church, as it is the day that the Holy Spirit came down, fulfilling both Old Testament prophecy (Joel 2:28) and that of Christ Himself (Luke 24:49).

2️⃣The evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit through speaking in tongues, was for the primary purpose of empowering the believers for the work of witnessing for Christ.
It is what Christ promised in Acts 1:8. To cement this fact, after the 120 spoke in tongues for the first time, they attracted the masses whom Peter addressed, leading to 3,000 souls saved on the day.

3️⃣The state of the church, especially in the Pentecostal- Charismatic circles where witnessing has become a tiresome and somewhat optional duty while we claim to be operating in the Holy Spirit is improper!

📌Therefore beloved, let us pray and trust God for another Pentecost, that will drive us to be witnesses!

Many Gifts, One Source, One Purpose

By Rev Jobe Repent Koosimile

Scripture reference : 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

📌The Corinthian church was blessed with many gifts but was struggling with immaturity and selfishness. Paul therefore had to redirect them from valuing "flashy" gifts to understanding the source and purpose of all gifts. He presented his case as follows;

I. The Source of the Gifts (vv. 4–6)
All the spirit gifts are from same God, Lord and Spirit. None of them are a natural ability that anyone can claim to have worked for.

II. The Purpose of the Gifts: The Common Good (v. 7)
The gifts are a way the Holy Spirit makes His presence known in the community. This is evident when the gifts uplift and empower the believers for a victorious Christian life.

III. The Variety of the Gifts: Empowered by One (vv. 8–11)
Diverse Enablements: Paul lists examples—wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, interpretation; which are by designed given to different people for different ministrations altough from the same Spirit.
The Spirit knows what the church needs, and in His own sovereignty and timing gives gifts that a relevant to his people’s needs. We do not choose our gifts as we cannot possibly know what spiritual nourishment each of us needs !

Therefore beloved, like the Corinthian church, we are urged to discover and use our spiritual gifts to strengthen the church. We must also remember that the diversity of gifts should not cause division, but rather cooperation. Lastly we must know that as every believer has a gift from Christ, they are to faithfully steward it, knowing that the Master returns soon!

MOTHERHOOD; A HIGH CALLING!

By Mrs. M.R. Koosimile

Scripture references: 1 Kings 3:16-27 &
Judges 13: 1-5, Exod 3:1-10

📌The account of the two women who were fighting for a living child after the other rolled on and killed her own although quite odd reveals the hard truths of motherhood; not everyone who has given birth is a mother! This matter before King Solomon was likely an easy one to make a judgment on because real mothers by nature are loving and highly protective of what is theirs!

📌The Scripture show mothers as important in ensuring that the destinies of nations are fulfilled by their attention to detail, sacrifices and unrelenting attitude in whatever circumstance of life! We consider the examples of Jacobeth the mother of Moses and the mother of Samson the judge of Israel.

1️⃣The mother of Samson had strict instructions from God on the care of her son, Samson who would live to be a deliverer of Israel from the hands of the Philistines. His purpose in life was directly related to the care and tending that the mother gave. In a similar way today, God has entrusted the future of the church, community and nations in the hands of the mothers!

2️⃣Jochebed the mother of Moses likewise stepped in her high calling of motherhood when she hid her baby son from Pharaoh. She unlike other women was willing to surrender her child easily to the enemies.
By God’s grace, she also found favor with pharaoh’s daughter and was able to raise Moses in the ways of the God of Israel in spite of living with him in the comfort of the Egyptian palace. When he was of age, he would easily identify with his people and later on become the one to deliver them from hundreds of years of slavery! This all ties back to a mother who acted with great courage and wisdom at a time of despair.

❤️Therefore mothers, rise to the high calm that God has placed upon you! You are mothers for a reason, to bring to pass the purposes of God on the earth. This is in regard to your own child, those you have adopted, those in the community you choose to mother, even the ones nobody wants to anything to do with!

PS: The Brother’s Fellowship treated all the mothers to a hearty Sunday meal!

A CALL TO REMEMBER!

By Elder Rachabatsotlhe

Scripture References:
Luke 22 vs 19
1 Corinthians 11 vs 26

📌To forget is a very human thing to do. It is why Jesus while sharing the last supper with the disciples, gave them an instruction to uphold the Holy Communion, observing it in rememberance of Him.

1️⃣Forgetfulness is dangerous because it robs one's identity. When we forget God, we forget who we are in him .
2️⃣It also disconnects us from the cross.Sometimes we forget the price Jesus paid
3️⃣It also dims our hope in the sense that we forget he is coming again

The Apostle Paul also, charges the church in Corinth to observe and give reverence to the Holy Communion as it represents what they have believed. He especially reminds them that it is a tool of remembrance of the certainty of the Second Coming of Christ.

Therefore beloved, whenever we partake of the Lord’s Table, may it be that we remember what it means and not just another observance.

BUILDING WITH PURPOSE, (series continuation)
To be a missional church

By Rev Jobe Repent Koosimile

Scripture references: Matt 28:19

📌Many of us are familiar with the Matt 28:19 text as the Great Commission that the Lord Jesus gave to the disciples before His ascension. However the same Commission holds in it the fundamental truths of what it means to be missional.

📌 In Matt 28:19, the command is to “Go therefore…”. The word go in the original Greek is a participle, and is better understood to mean “as you go or as you are going”.
To be missional therefore means living a Christian life which is on daily mission of reflecting God and bringing people to Him. It is derived from the Greek word apostello, which itself speaks of “sending”.
A missional believer and church, lives out their lives as the ones sent with a message! It means the life of the messenger reflect what they believe in their thoughts, desires, actions, attitude etc.

📌The disciples themselves understood this command from our Lord Jesus such that sharing the Good News was part of their lives despite the severe persecution they faced. As an example, Acts 7 and 8, speak of deacons Stephen and Phillip respectively, who on their way as they were feeling from persecution preached the Gospel. They never lost sight of what their lives were about!

📍Therefore beloved, the call to be a missional church, is not a call to anything complicated like planned or coordinated crusades or outreaches, it is rather a calling for every believer to show forth as salt and light for a lost degenerate world that we live in!

🎉🎊 We had the opportunity to share a birthday cake with our Pastor Jobe Repent Koosimile!

BUILDING WITH PURPOSE, (series continuation)

By Rev Jobe Repent Koosimile

Scripture references: Matt 28:19, Psalm 127:1, Acts 1:8, Eph 4:11-13

5️⃣Evangelism and growth
📌The critical strategy of the Church for growth is primarily evangelism followed by discipleship.
Jesus as He ascended to Heaven gave the Church the mission to go out into all the world, preaching and making disciples! (Matt 28:18-19)

📌He has given the Holy Spirit, to empower believers for such a great task as according to Acts 1:8. The role of the Holy Spirit is also primarily to make us effective “ witnesses” of Christ, everything else is a secondary matter!

📌 Contrary to church practice and culture, it is the church members who must be at the forefront of the mission of evangelizing and discipling new believers, not pastors or preachers. The pastors (and other five-fold ministers) only work as nurses for the wounded soldiers from the battle field, simply empowering them for the work of the ministry. It is the saints who do the work of the ministry! (See Eph 4:11-13)

❤️Therefore beloved, let us remember that there is no other way to bring about numerical growth in the church except through evangelism (and discipleship), which is a general calling for all who believe in Christ!

BUILDING WITH PURPOSE

By Rev Jobe Repent Koosimile

Scripture reference Acts 2:44, Acts 15:37-40, Psalm 133
3️⃣UNITY THROUGH ORGANIZED EFFORT

📌The sum total of Scripture shows that God only works where there is unity, and the Church must therefore have no room for factions. The Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians church uses the illustration of the Church as a body, that despite having many parts it remains a single body.( 1 Cor 12:12)

📌The same analogy shows that unity does not mean uniformity. Each organ has its own specific task. A difference of opinions therefore doesn’t not necessarily make people enemies!
In Acts 15:37-41, we see a heated argument between Paul and Barnabas over John Mark, but Paul speaks so kindly of Mark later on in his epistles such as 2 Tim 4:11.

📍Therefore beloved, let us keep our eyes on the ball, lay aside murmurings and disputes if we want to build with God!
