I once fell into performance-based Christianity without even realizing it. I believed that if I prayed more, fasted longer, tithed consistently, and never missed a church meeting, then surely God would bless me more. Deep down, I thought my standing with God depended on how well I behaved. And every time I messed up, I felt like I had to start from scratch, like I had to earn back His favor.

But that mindset wore me out. I was always trying, never resting. I was sincere, but I wasn’t free. Then the Lord opened my eyes to grace. He reminded me that I wasn’t saved by works and I wouldn’t stay saved by works either. Jesus didn’t die to hand me a performance checklist. He gave me a gift called grace.

Now, I don’t pray, give, or serve to earn anything. I do it because I already have everything in Christ. I’m not trying to qualify; Jesus already qualified me. That truth changed everything. Grace sets you free from striving and brings you into rest because Jesus really is enough.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
