19 July 2026 | A Historic Beginning for Columbian Year 2026–2027

With hearts filled with gratitude to God and immense pride in our brotherhood, Knights of Columbus Kawanggawa Council 9189 officially commenced the First Monthly Council Meeting for Columbian Year 2026–2027, marking a memorable day of tradition, servant leadership, and fraternal unity.

The day began with our cherished tradition of celebrating the Holy Mass, followed by prayers at the Monument of the Unborn, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to the sanctity of life. The brethren then gathered for a fraternal breakfast before proceeding to the council's first official meeting of the new Columbian Year.

The meeting was presided over by our newly Worthy Grand Knight, Bro. Enrique "Kelvin" G. Doble, who presented the council's vision, strategic roadmap, and future plans for Columbian Year 2026–2027. His inspiring leadership sets the course for another year of meaningful Faith in Action programs and dedicated service to God, the Church, our communities, and our Worthy Brother Knights.

One of the most significant moments of the gathering was the Ceremonial Turnover of the Gavel, symbolizing the formal transfer of leadership from Worthy Past Grand Knight and now Worthy District Deputy Bro. Alfredo "Cocoy" G. Trinidad Jr. to Worthy Grand Knight Bro. Enrique "Kelvin" G. Doble. This timeless tradition represents not merely the passing of authority but the continuation of a legacy of servant leadership, unity, and excellence.

The occasion became even more meaningful with the recognition of Worthy District Deputy Bro. Alfredo "Cocoy" G. Trinidad Jr. for his outstanding and dedicated service as the Elected Grand Knight of Kawanggawa Council 9189 for Columbian Years 2024–2026.

A heartfelt and inspiring privileged speech was delivered by one of our esteemed Charter Members (November 1985), Worthy Past Grand Knight (1998–2000), Former Master of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus Luzon State, and Honorable Barangay Kagawad of Pacita 1, Bro. Antonio "Tony" B. Magtibay. In his address, he formally initiated the endorsement of Bro. Alfredo "Cocoy" G. Trinidad Jr. for inclusion in the distinguished roster of Past Grand Knights of Kawanggawa Council 9189, recognizing his faithful leadership and invaluable contributions to the council.

Following the endorsement, Bro. Antonio "Tony" B. Magtibay called upon the Past Grand Knights present to witness this historic moment of fraternity and honor:

• Worthy PGK Bro. Christopher "Chris" C. Gonzales (2010-2011) Former District Deputy and Charter Member (November 1985)
• Worthy PGK Bro. George M. Quiaoit (2011–2012), Former Faithful Navigator
• Worthy PGK Bro. Antonino "Toti" S. Santos (2015–2016), Former Faithful Navigator
• Worthy PGK Bro. Virgilio "Boy" S. Palpal-Latoc (2017–2019)
• Worthy PGK Bro. Romulo "Romy" O. Maminta (2019–2020)
• Worthy PGK Bro. Rodrigo "Rod" V. Maranca (2020–2021) Former District Deputy
• Worthy PGK, Former District Deputy, and Present State Officer Bro. Crispulo "Caloy" S. Magno (2021–2022) Former District Deputy, and Present State Officer Luzon South State
• Worthy PGK Bro. Juan "Jun" C. Roque Jr. (2022–2023)
• Worthy PGK Bro. Fernando "Deng" S. Bodegon (2023–2024) Present Faithful Navigator

In a solemn and symbolic ceremony, Former Master of the Fourth Degree Bro. Antonio "Tony" B. Magtibay proudly conferred the Past Grand Knight Pin, while Worthy Faithful Navigator Bro. Fernando "Deng" S. Bodegon bestowed the Past Grand Knight Fourth Degree Pin upon Worthy District Deputy Bro. Alfredo "Cocoy" G. Trinidad Jr., officially welcoming him into the honored fellowship of the Council's Past Grand Knights.

As we embark on Columbian Year 2026–2027, we express our profound gratitude to our outgoing Grand Knight for his exemplary leadership and congratulate our new Grand Knight as he assumes the mantle of responsibility. Guided by faith, strengthened by unity, and inspired by the legacy of those who came before us, Kawanggawa Council 9189 remains steadfast in its mission to serve God, the Church, our communities, our families, and our Brother Knights.

May this new Columbian Year bring even greater opportunities to live out our principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, as we continue building a stronger Council and a stronger Church.

Congratulations to our leaders, and may God continue to bless Kawanggawa Council 9189.
