Srila Gurudeva Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Gosvami Maharaja has all the symptoms of a bona fide Guru, as evidenced by Srimad-Bhagavatam and as Srila Gurudeva Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja teaches in the book Pinnacle of Devotion:

tasmad gurum prapadyeta
jijnasuh sreya uttamam
sabde pare ca nisnatam
brahmany upasamasrayam
(Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.3.21)

“Anyone who is truly desirous of attaini

ng the highest happiness should seek out a bona fide spiritual master and take shelter of him through initiation. The qualification of such a master is that he must be accomplished in the conclusions of the scriptures by pondering, debating and argument and thus be able to convince others of these conclusions. Such a great personality who has taken complete refuge in the Supreme Lord and lives apart from all material considerations can be understood as a trusted spiritual teacher.”

Bona fide Guru has two external symptoms:

1 - sabde = perfect knowledge of the Vedas, Upanishads, Srimad-Bhagavatam, etc.

2 - upasamasraya = completely detached from material desires. And one internal symptom:

3 - pare ca nisnatam brahmany = the Guru must have internal realisation of Parabrahma, otherwise he will fall. Just knowledge of sastras without true absorption in bhajana is not enough to save one from falling out of the way of bhakti. Gurudeva destroys the four stages of sin:

1 - prarabdha = fruitful karma; they are reactions of previous acts that are being suffered or appreciated at the present moment.

2 - aprarabdha = those reactions that will bear fruit in our next body.

3 - kuta and bija = sins that have not yet happened or been fulfilled, but the tendency to fulfill is dormant in the heart.

4 - avidya = ignorance through which one forgets God - Krishna - and thinks of oneself as the enjoyer. Through this all problems emerge. Gurudeva also has one special quality:

The trusted, bona fide Guru never takes the disciple's heart as his property, but instead makes his disciple's heart soft, sweet and fragrant, suitable to be offered to the Divine Couple. These words of glorification to our Prananatha Srila Gurudeva Vana Gosvami Maharaja are but a drop of nectar from Sri Gaudiya Vaisnava's sweet, infinite and beautiful ocean!! While glorifying his beloved Gurudeva,
Nitya-lila Pravista Om Vishnupada Ashtottara-sata Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja Ji,
Gurudev spoke these beautiful words:

“I observed that whoever came to see Gurudeva, he had a special quality of capturing their hearts with his eyes. Just as Bilvamangala Thakura said to Krishna:

vraje prasiddhaḿ navanīta-cauraḿ
gopāńganānāḿ ca dukūla-cauram
aneka-janmārjita-pāpa-cauraḿ
caurāgragaṇyaṁ puruṣaṁ namāmi

— Sri Sri Chaurāgragaṇya-puruṣāṣṭaka

[I offer pranama to that foremost of thieves — who is famous in Vraja as the butter thief and he who steals the gopis’ clothes, and who, for those who take shelter of Him, steals the sins which have accrued over many lifetimes.]

This shloka also applies to Gurudeva — whoever his merciful glance rests upon, he steals their hearts. He appeared on the day of amavasya (new moon). In shastra, it says that those who are born on amavasya will become thieves. Gurudeva appeared on Mauni Amavasya, so therefore he is a thief.

Just as a thief in this material world steals material wealth, and just as Krishna steals the hearts of the gopis, in the same way, Srila Gurudeva stole the hearts of his disciples and engaged them in his service. How can I describe the remembrance of such a great personality?”

Sādhana-bhakti progresses through seven stages: śraddhā, sādhu-saṅga, bhajana-kriyā, anartha-nivṛtti, niṣṭhā, ruci, and āsakti. By daily chanting and steady practice, realization gradually unfolds.

As one advances, one eventually comes to the platform of bhāva-bhakti, and begins to realize his own spiritual mood. One may discover whether he is situated in sakhya-rasa (friendship), vātsalya-rasa (parental affection), or mādhurya-rasa (conjugal sweetness).

In this way, realization naturally awakens within the heart.💞

Especially in Kali-yuga, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu has most mercifully and indiscriminately distributed the highest spiritual mood to all living beings.

Anarpita-carīṁ cirāt karuṇayāvatīrṇaḥ kalau
Samarpayitum unnatojjvala-rasāṁ sva-bhakti-śriyam
Hariḥ puraṭa-sundara-dyuti-kadamba-sandīpitaḥ
Sadā hṛdaya-kandare sphuratu vaḥ śacī-nandanaḥ
Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Ādi-līlā 1.4)

May the Supreme Lord who is known as the son of Śrīmatī Śacī-devī be transcendentally situated in the innermost chambers of your heart. Resplendent with the radiance of molten gold, He has appeared in the Age of Kali by His causeless mercy to bestow what no incarnation has ever offered before: the most sublime and radiant mellow of devotional service, the mellow of conjugal love.

कृष्ण सदा सहायते | The world may see a devotee walking alone… but a devotee knows that Sri Guru and Krishna are always with us, protecting us and guiding us toward our ultimate benefit.

Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
The source of all incarnations — Rama, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, Nrsimhadeva, Kurma, Varaha, and all avatars.

And when a soul sincerely takes shelter of Him, Krishna personally protects and guides that devotee.

Krishna says,
