A Light of Spiritual Wisdom and Ayurveda Has Faded
Swami Shankaramritanandapuri Attains Samadhi

Amritapuri: With profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of Swami Shankaramritanandapuri, a senior monk of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, a renowned Ayurvedic scholar, physician, teacher, and spiritual guide. He was 63 years old and had been undergoing treatment for some time due to ill health.
Swamiji joined the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in 1991 and held a postgraduate degree in Ayurveda. He served as the Dean of Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amritapuri, and Medical Director of Amrita Ayurveda Hospital.
A distinguished scholar with deep knowledge of Sanskrit, Vedanta, and Ayurveda, Swamiji was widely respected for his insightful discourses and interpretations of sacred texts, including the Lalita Sahasranama, Soundarya Lahari, Abhirami Anthadhi, and Ramayana.
He was a rare spiritual teacher who beautifully integrated the wisdom of spirituality with the profound science of Ayurveda. Through his leadership, teaching, medical service, and dedication, he played an important role in advancing Ayurveda while preserving and transmitting its rich traditional knowledge to future generations.
His life was a remarkable blend of spiritual wisdom, scholarship, compassion, healing, and selfless service. His passing is an immense loss to the spiritual community, the Ayurveda fraternity, and all those who had the privilege of learning from and serving alongside him.
We offer our humble and heartfelt pranams to the sacred memory of Swami Shankaramritanandapuri. May his soul rest in eternal peace. 🙏

The final rites will be held at Amritapuri on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, at 9:00 PM.

🙏 A Sacred Morning of Remembrance | MASS Bahrain

The Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti (MASS) Bahrain successfully conducted its 12th Annual Pitru Tarpan – Karkidaka Vavu Bali on 12 August 2026 at the Bahrain Media City Auditorium.

Led by Muthedath Kesavan Namboothiri, the traditional rituals were performed with devotion and reverence as devotees gathered to remember their departed ancestors and offer Pitru Tarpanam.

For the past 12 years, MASS Bahrain has continued this annual tradition, providing the Indian diaspora with an opportunity to observe this sacred ancestral ritual while preserving our spiritual and cultural heritage away from our homeland.

Our heartfelt gratitude to MASS Bahrain Coordinator Sudheer Thirunilath, General Secretary Satheesh Kumar, Patron Krishna Kumar, all Executive Committee members, volunteers and devotees whose dedication made the programme a meaningful success.

A special word of appreciation to Francis Kaitharath and the entire Bahrain Media City (BMC) Team for their unwavering support and cooperation. We also sincerely thank the Coca-Cola Bahrain Team,and everyone who worked behind the scenes.

12th Consecutive Year of Service by Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti (MASS) Bahrain

Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti (MASS) Bahrain is privileged to announce the organization of Karkidaka Vavu Bali (Pitru Tarpanam) for the 12th consecutive year, providing an opportunity for devotees in Bahrain to perform this sacred ancestral rite with devotion and reverence.
Karkidaka Vavu (Karkidaka Amavasya) is one of the most sacred occasions dedicated to remembering and paying homage to our departed ancestors. Observed on the New Moon (Amavasya) of the Malayalam month of Karkidakam, this ritual symbolizes gratitude, remembrance, and filial duty towards one's forefathers.
According to tradition, offering Pitru Tarpanam and Bali on this auspicious day is believed to bring peace to the departed souls, invoke the blessings of our ancestors, and bestow harmony, prosperity, and well-being upon the family.
Unlike the annual rites performed on the specific date or Nakshatra of a person's passing, Karkidaka Vavu Bali is a special collective offering dedicated to all ancestors, irrespective of the date or star of their demise. It is regarded as one of the most spiritually significant occasions for performing ancestral rites.
Every year, thousands of devotees gather at sacred riverbanks, temples, and seashores—including Aluva, Thirunavaya, Shanghumugham, Varkala, and many other holy places—to perform this timeless ritual. For those living away from their homeland, observing this sacred tradition serves as a meaningful way to remain connected with their cultural and spiritual heritage.
For the past twelve years, Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti (MASS) Bahrain has been committed to facilitating Pitru Tarpanam in Bahrain, enabling devotees to offer prayers and respects to their beloved ancestors in a serene and spiritually enriching environment.

മാതാ അമൃതാനന്ദമയി സേവാ സമിതി (MASS) ബഹ്റൈൻ, തുടർച്ചയായ 12-ാം വർഷവും വിശുദ്ധമായ കർക്കിടക വാവുബലി (പിതൃതർപ്പണം) ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ബഹ്റൈനിലുള്ള ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവ്വികരെ സ്മരിച്ച് ഈ പുണ്യകർമ്മം നിർവഹിക്കാനുള്ള അവസരമാണ് ഇതിലൂടെ ഒരുക്കുന്നത്.
കർക്കിടക വാവ് (അമാവാസി) പിതൃസ്മരണയ്ക്കും പിതൃപൂജയ്ക്കും ഏറ്റവും വിശിഷ്ടമായ ദിവസമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. മലയാള മാസമായ കർക്കിടകത്തിലെ കറുത്ത വാവ് ദിനത്തിലാണ് ഈ വിശുദ്ധ ചടങ്ങ് ആചരിക്കുന്നത്. പൂർവ്വികരോടുള്ള കൃതജ്ഞതയും ആദരവും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആത്മീയ അനുഷ്ഠാനമാണ് പിതൃതർപ്പണം.
വിശ്വാസപ്രകാരം, ഈ ദിവസം ബലിതർപ്പണവും പിതൃതർപ്പണവും നടത്തുന്നത് പൂർവ്വികരുടെ ആത്മാക്കൾക്ക് ശാന്തിയും മോക്ഷവും ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും കുടുംബത്തിന് അനുഗ്രഹവും ഐശ്വര്യവും സമാധാനവും കൈവരുന്നതിനും കാരണമാകുന്നു.
സാധാരണയായി വാർഷിക ബലി മരണപ്പെട്ട വ്യക്തിയുടെ തിഥിയും നക്ഷത്രവും അനുസരിച്ചാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ കർക്കിടക വാവുബലി മരണത്തിന്റെ തീയതിയോ നക്ഷത്രമോ പരിഗണിക്കാതെ എല്ലാ പിതൃക്കൾക്കും ഒരുപോലെ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിശേഷ ബലിയാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ഈ ദിവസത്തെ പിതൃതർപ്പണത്തിന് അത്യന്തം ആത്മീയ പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്.
ഓരോ വർഷവും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തർ നദീതീരങ്ങളിലും ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും കടൽത്തീരങ്ങളിലും ഈ വിശുദ്ധ ചടങ്ങ് അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നു. സ്വദേശത്തുനിന്ന് അകലെ കഴിയുന്നവർക്ക് സ്വന്തം ആത്മീയ-സാംസ്കാരിക പാരമ്പര്യവുമായി ബന്ധം നിലനിർത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു വിശിഷ്ട അവസരവുമാണിത്.
കഴിഞ്ഞ പന്ത്രണ്ട് വർഷങ്ങളായി, ബഹ്റൈനിൽ ഈ വിശുദ്ധ പാരമ്പര്യം ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുവാൻ ആവശ്യമായ എല്ലാ സൗകര്യങ്ങളും ഒരുക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് മാതാ അമൃതാനന്ദമയി സേവാ സമിതി (MASS) ബഹ്റൈൻ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചുവരുന്നു. അനേകം കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്ക് പിതൃതർപ്പണം നിർവഹിക്കുവാനുള്ള ആത്മീയ വേദി ഒരുക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞത് സമിതിക്ക് അഭിമാനകരമായ സേവനമാണ്.
എല്ലാ ഭക്തജനങ്ങളെയും കുടുംബസമേതം ഈ വിശുദ്ധ പിതൃതർപ്പണ ചടങ്ങിൽ പങ്കുചേർന്ന് പൂർവ്വികരുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം പ്രാപിക്കുവാൻ ഹൃദയപൂർവ്വം സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
