Today we offer our deepest respect and Sadhu to Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara and the courageous monks who completed the Great Peace Walk. For 108 days, they turned the pavement into a path of meditation, crossing 10 states and 2,300 miles to bring a message of healing to the heart of the world.
Why We Remember This Journey:
The Barefoot Path: Led by Bhikkhu Pannakara, many walked barefoot through winter storms and Appalachian cold, showing us that the strength of the mind far outweighs the frailty of the body.
Unity in Diversity: From small towns in Alabama to the steps of the U.S. Capitol, they met every person with an open heart, proving that peace is a universal language that transcends all borders.
Sacrifice & Resilience: We remember the monks who faced injury and hardship along the way, yet never faltered in their mission of Metta (loving-kindness).
A Living Meditation: They showed us that peace is not a destination we reach, but the way we walk with every single breath.
