Today, 18th Aug we pause with gratitude, sorrow and pride as we remember those Australians who wear the burden of the Vietnam War.

What a life Rosina must have had! As we check through our records we often wonder about the lives of individuals and their families. We know Rosina Haberfield was born in 1865 and died in 1965. Through those 100 years she has lived through 2 World Wars, the Great Depression, high mortality rates associated with poor sanitation and infectious diseases.

In 1890 the railway line was extended linking Warrnambool to Melbourne.

In 1895 the inaugural Melbourne Cycling Classic was held.

In 1945 Australia launched launched the immigration policy 'Populate or Perish'.

In 1848 Fletcher Jones opens its garment factory and ornamental Gardens.

In 1962 all indigenous Australians were granted the right to vote.

Forever at peace now, but if only we knew her story.

📅 Just Days to Go!
On Wednesday, along with Geelong Cemeteries Trust and Arrow Bronze, we will officially launch the Virtual Memorialisation Pilot Project, but there is much more to see than the launch itself.
Over the past few weeks our volunteers have been busy preparing a special exhibition that tells the story of our relationship with the Colac Cemetery and, more recently, the Geelong Cemeteries Trust — a relationship that spans almost 45 years.
Visitors will be able to explore a four-part exhibition featuring:
• The history of our work in conjunction with the cemetery
• Storyboards highlighting some of the remarkable lives uncovered through our research
• Banners recognising the organisations and groups who have helped make this work possible over the years
The weather outlook is encouraging, with a forecast top of around 13–14°C and only a slight chance of a shower. It will be a chilly morning though, so please dress warmly.
☕ Morning tea will be available from 10:30am, but you are welcome to arrive from 10:00am to view the exhibition in the COPACC foyer before the formal proceedings begin.
🚗 If possible, please consider carpooling. Parking can be limited when there is a large crowd at COPACC. Remember that passengers can be dropped directly at the entrance before parking.
The formal event will conclude by 12:00pm, after which guests will be invited to travel to the Colac Cemetery to experience Virtual Memorialisation for themselves.
After more than a decade of research, storytelling and collaboration, we are looking forward to sharing this exciting milestone with our community.
We can't wait to welcome you on Wednesday.
