This is the story of our little chapel became a realization of my dream from 44 years ago after I saw the Yosemite Chapel in Yosemite National Park in California . I was awestruck by its simplistic beauty . I told my husband that I wanted a little chapel to meditate , and pray in . A quiet solitude tucked away among our Oak Trees .
I never let go of my dream . I just prayed that it would happen . In the meantime our lives were busy raising our son , and daughter . I was also going to UTD , Dallas a sister university to UTA in Austin . Plus we were involved with the kids school activities. Lots of band , and football involvement .
Then I graduated receiving my certification and degree in Special Education , and Psychology . Then as fast as a whirlwind our kids graduated and went to college . I guess you could say life got in the way of my dream .
Then came weddings , and grandchildren. Our oldest granddaughter has Aspergers Syndrome , on the Autism Spectrum . I was her aide in her school years . Finally , two years ago my husband retired from Pharmacy after 54 years of service . Then .......
We decided to build our chapel . My husband picked a clearing among our Oak Trees on our property . We wanted the chapel to set back from the road and away from our house so it would not anything to detract from it . We had no architectural plans , or floor plans . My husband smoothed the land the chapel , then he started building ! We decided that all of the materials to be used in building this chapel would be of reclaimed materials . We also had scrap metal , and reclaimed lumber .
And so it began ......
