Khalid ibn al-Walid said this when he was in Yarmouk.
"I am the pillar of Islam! I am the Companion of the Prophet! I am the noble warrior, Iโm Khalid bin Al Waleed" - Khalid ibn al-Walid
The Battle of the 'Yarmouk' was an armed military engagement between the Byzantine army of Emperor Heraclius (150,000-400,000)(r. 610โ641) and the Rashidun Caliphate Forces of Caliph Umar(R.A)(25,000-40,000)(r. 634โ644) in August 636. It took place near the Yarmuk River in Syria and lasted for six days. It was one of the most decisive battles in military history which resulted in the end of Byzantine rule over Syria despite huge numerical advantage. It also marked the first great wave of early Muslim conquests.
Khalid ibn al-Walid never lost a battle in life.
Following his conversion to Islam, he was made a commander by Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who bestowed on him the title Sayf Allah ('the Sword of God)
Khalid ibn Al-Waleed was a military strategist and commander with very few equals in human history, a man who turned many a defeat or near defeat into glorious victories.
