Children's Prayer Network

Children's Prayer Network To mobilise praying Christian children to take their place in God’s family as part of God's army. The Beginnings

In 1993 “Lighthouse” began at St.

Paul’s, Wahroonga in Sydney – an after school group which trained children to use puppets, drama and dance as an outreach and evangelism tool. In 1995 Lighthouse became a children’s prayer group and in May of that year three of its members travelled to Seoul, Korea to attend the Global Consultation on World Evangelisation as praying delegates, along with 35 other children from eight different coun

tries. This was possibly the first time in history that children were a part of a world conference of such significance. Jane Mackie, then leader of Lighthouse, was invited to lead the team working with those children in Korea. It was as a result of that life-changing experience that Jane accepted the invitation from the Australian AD2000 Movement to set up and co-ordinate a Children’s Prayer Network in Australia. The Network was officially launched in July 1995 at Merroo Christian Centre at the National AD2000 Conference.

This happened over 20 years ago. Lord, you’ve done it before, would you do it again! 🙏

An All-Age Worship Gathering

Family 2003 was an all-age worship event hosted by Merroo Christian Centre and run by a team of 35 children and young people from the Children’s Prayer Network. Christian families and “The family” of Christ came together for four days to worship, pray and play together. It was a glimpse of how the family of God is meant to be.

Morning devotions began each day, with families and individuals scattered around Merroo having found their own special place to have time with the Lord. Then the morning sessions began with family praise and worship led by the Network’s young worship team Men met together, women met together and children met together, building relationships with each other, and hearing from the Lord together, but most of the time was spent worshipping as a family. Afternoons were for relaxation, or workshops for those wanting to learn more about worship, prayer, etc. The evening sessions included “goodnight prayer” for the younger children before moving into energetic praise and more awesome worship lead by another worship team of passionate young people.

The Network team of young leaders did everything from registration, dining room duties, selling resources, leading workshops, to setting up and cleaning up, some also being in the morning worship team. One of their major assignments was to man the 24-hour prayer room. During every break, every afternoon and all night children were on prayer watch, worshipping the Lord and hearing from Him. On the third night the Lord visited in the most powerful way! Jane Mackie wrote:

“I wasn’t there when it happened! The prayer room was being manned by three of the teenagers, and a few other people were there too, when I believe at 11.30 pm something happened. At the 7 am team meeting it was hard, if not impossible, to get an accurate description of what happened from any who were present when the Lord visited, but visit He did, and the result had been the most passionate worship of the noisiest kind, which lasted for several hours, with no musical accompaniment whatsoever. With five minutes remaining before breakfast at 7.55 am I felt those who had been present at the night watch should maybe pray for those who were not, and guess what? God showed up again! Before too long I was in the kitchen apologising for the fact that 40 or so people would not be showing up for breakfast. The worship from the leadership team was like I had never seen before. They were lost in God’s presence. It seemed as though they had entered the Holy of Holies, and were oblivious to anyone else being present. They were noisy, passionate; teenage boys with struggling voices were singing their lungs out and they didn’t care what they sounded like! Some were weeping, some were on the floor unable to move, others were beating out a rhythm on anything nearby, tables, chairs, whatever. It was then starting time for the day’s programme – and I was still in my pyjamas! As though we were moving the Ark of God’s very presence, we were able to carefully manoeuvre the children into the main auditorium, some needed to be carried. The worship continued until 1 pm. Somewhere around 11 am the anointing “lightened” and I was able to leave for a few minutes to get out of my pyjamas. I had never led a meeting in pyjamas before!”

From the mailbox:
“I wanted you to know how much my family and I enjoyed “Family 2003”. It was the first time we had been on a Christian camp together and my kids especially enjoyed the company of children their own age. We are just starting to worship together as a family and I’m sure some important seeds were planted at Merroo. Just spending time in the anointing of worship was invaluable.”

Report from Perth Children in Prayer event - sorry no photos, but wonderful testimonies from the children that they either heard the Lord speak to them or felt His presence. Such joy and peace in the room!
Report from Adelaide, photos below, Holy Spirit Fire and Presence concluded the training on Friday evening. Saturday the children received many visions and words from the Lord, and then laid hands on all present with their fire-filled, powerfully anointed prayers. It was glorious!

IT'S TIME 2005
A Report by Jane Mackie

The Children's Prayer Network believes that it's time for revival, that it is going to happen soon in Australia , and that our Aboriginal brothers and sisters will play a key part in that revival. For that reason we sponsored 40 Aboriginal children and their leaders to attend our Leadership Training Convention It's Time! which was held from 18th to 22nd April at Merroo Christian Conference Centre in Kurrajong, NSW.

They came from the north, the south, the east and the west - from Western Australia , Tasmania , Victoria , New South Wales and the Northern Territory ( Elcho Island , Arnhem Land ). Getting the Aboriginal children there was no easy assignment. The devil had his go at preventing them, but of course did not win. The cash the Elcho Islanders had saved for their trip went missing on its way to the airline offices - thousands of dollars they had raised by catching fish, selling shells, etc. It was heartbreaking. Two were on their way, who had been able to pay using someone's credit card, but the other 12 faced being left behind to cope with enormous disappointment. However, I felt that credit cards may have been created for such a time as this, so in faith I used mine to book one-way flights for them, and the group all arrived on time for the start of the convention. In fact, by the time they arrived, the $5000 spent had already been pledged to cover those fares! Then there was the further faith challenge to get the group home again, but again Jehovah Jireh came through, via His wonderful saints. It was not made known at the time, but I had also paid in faith for the airfares of the Western Australia group, and that money was covered as well! We serve a mighty God!

The Children's Prayer Network has made many international connections since it began 10 years ago and one of those connections is Daphne Kirk from England (Generation to Generation Ministries) who travels the world speaking about discipling, training and equipping the next generation. Daphne and three of her four children paid their own way to team up as guest speakers and co-workers with us at the convention. Daphne spoke and facilitated many prophetic acts during the week, emphasizing the need to be responsible for the generations to come. Another international speaker, Val Groves, from New Zealand also came, with her two Australian granddaughters, and shared with us her passion for ministering to babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

The convention was led by a team of 30 young people, aged between 10 and 20 years old, plus a handful of adults. These young people led the worship, manned registration desks, set up chairs, led workshops, prayed for people, cleaned toilets, manned the prayer room, served meals, etc, etc. Their week was spent serving, serving and more serving without complaint, with little free time, serving only with energy, enthusiasm and lots of smiles. As their leader, I can tell you there was not one issue amongst them from beginning to end, and they were with each other 24/7. Much of the feedback I received following the convention was that God manifested Himself through that team of children. They were an incredible testimony of how God is raising up this generation to serve Him now, at whatever age they are, and given the opportunity they do just that, and love it!

To summarise an awesome, God-filled, Spirit-led week it began with an Aboriginal welcome, where they welcomed us and we honoured them. In between we worshipped together, laughed together, cried together, danced together, even washed each others' feet. The convention ended with a symbolic lighting the fires of revival in our land. After our Aboriginal brothers and sisters had laid flame symbols on the floor map of Australia , you'll never guess - the fire alarm went off! Certainly everyone I have spoken to since the convention went away on fire, and we have heard great reports of young people powering on, and new prayer groups getting started. Yes, Lord, fan the flames!

[ The Beginnings ]

[ The Journey ]

Since 1995 representatives of the Children’s Prayer Network have travelled to many countries, and all over Australia, sharing the vision in churches, schools, at regional meetings, and world conferences. Thousands of children worldwide have heard the message that children can pray and children can minister; that they don’t have to wait until they are grown up to have a meaningful relationship with the Lord, and that He wants them to use the gifts He has given them to pray, worship and serve Him.

[ Now! ]

Today all around the world children are praying - in their own prayer groups, in churches, in schools, in orphanages, even on the streets. Our network is only a small part of a Global Children’s Prayer Movement which is sweeping the earth! We feel blessed and privileged to have been used by God to share what the Lord has given us, to travel to 36 nations, and to sow into the lives of many thousands of children over these years since 1995. We praise God that He is raising up this next generation as prayer warriors and agents of transformation.

We continue to be available to offer training wherever we are invited and able to travel. Please contact us if we can be of assistance.
