Most people think death is the ultimate fear.

Christianity makes a different claim.

That death is terrifying, yes.
But not because breathing stops.

Because death forces the deeper question.

What happens when you stand before God?

The Bible says the real problem is not death itself, but sin.

Not just bad behaviour.
Rebellion. Separation. Falling short of the God who made us.

And that’s why Easter matters.

Because Jesus didn’t just come to make people feel better about death.

He came to deal with the thing behind it.

Every human life is shaped by one unavoidable reality.

Death.

And maybe that explains more than we admit.

The pressure to achieve.
To matter.
To accumulate.
To experience everything.
To leave something behind.

What if much of human striving is really a response to mortality?

The Christian story makes a radical claim.

That death is not just an event at the end of life, but a power humanity lives under.

And that Jesus came to break it.

What if the world’s definition of freedom is upside down?

More power.
More control.
More independence.

And yet so many people still feel anxious, restless, and stuck.

Jesus offers a radically different path.

Not self-exaltation.
Not domination.

A different kind of freedom.
A different kind of peace.

Maybe turning your world upside down is exactly what sets it right.

The Christian story starts with a difficult claim.

That humanity’s deepest problem isn’t external.
It’s within us.

Unchecked desires.
Broken habits.
The ways we turn from what is good.

And the claim of Easter is that we couldn’t rescue ourselves.

So Jesus stepped in.

Not with force.
Not with power.
But through sacrifice.

That’s why the cross sits at the centre of Christianity.

Why is the darkest day in Christian history called Good Friday?

Because the story isn’t just about suffering.
It’s about purpose.

The Christian claim is that humanity cannot free itself.

Not through morality.
Not through effort.
Not through religion.

Jesus willingly stepped in, paid the cost, and made freedom possible.

That’s why Christians call it good.

07/05/2026

Jesus defined greatness differently.

Not through domination.
Not through status.
Not through fear.

The Bible describes a king who laid down power, gave up freedom, and served others instead.

That idea feels completely opposite to the way the modern world operates.

But maybe that’s exactly why it still stands out.

07/05/2026

The Bible says Jesus was equal with God.

And yet, instead of elevating himself above humanity, he entered into suffering with us.

Not power.
Not status.
Not domination.

Humility.

A God willing to lower himself, serve, and even die for humanity is a radically different idea of greatness.

That’s why Jesus continues to challenge the way we think about power, leadership, and love.

30/04/2026

“Jesus founded his empire on love.”

That’s Napoleon.

A man who built power through force looked at Jesus and saw something completely different.

No armies.
No wealth.
No status.

And yet, his influence outlasted every empire.

Why?

Because what Jesus built wasn’t held together by control.
It was held together by people who actually believed in him.

That kind of power doesn’t fade.

28/04/2026

Why Would Jesus Choose To Die?

Not a myth.
Not a legend.

One of the earliest historical accounts we have describes a man who knew what was coming.

Betrayal.
Suffering.
Death.

And he didn’t avoid it.

He moved toward it.

If that’s true, the question isn’t just what happened.

It’s why.

If you’ve ever wondered whether the story of Jesus is history or something more, Dinner + Dialogue is a space to explore it.

A relaxed dinner.
Open conversation.
No pressure.

A PRAYER FOR ANZAC DAY

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends."

Almighty God and Heavenly Father,

Whose kingdom rules over all and in whom there is perfect freedom. We give you thanks on this Day for all who have served in the defence of this country.

As we remember those men and women who served - in the ranks of our Navy, Army, Air Force, Merchant Navy and Police, we give thanks to you, gracious God, for their great sacrifices in conflict and in captivity - for the cause of peace and freedom. In our nation of wealth, prosperity and comfort, let us not forget the cost of these privileges which we now enjoy.

And, gracious Father, we pray for peace. Have mercy on our broken and divided world and banish the spirit that makes for war. We ask that leaders of nations and governments will pursue freedom, justice and the welfare of all peoples.

And finally, we pray for ourselves. In the midst of worldly turmoil and strife, make us yearn for peace - not only with each other - but peace with you through our crucified and risen Saviour. Trusting in Him for the forgiveness of our sins, help us to look forward to His kingly return.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
