In his reflection at Holy Hour, Fr Isaac Demase SJ invites us to recognise the light of Christ in our own lives. He reflects on how we can find that light in the midst of uncertainty, and how Christ’s light guides us as we discern our vocation and seek to serve others.

A reminder that wherever we are called, we are called to carry the light of Christ into the world.

Where is God when we suffer?

The Cross reminds us that God does not stand at a distance from our pain. In Jesus, God enters into our suffering and remains with us.

We never carry our cross alone.

Jesus asks Peter a question that still matters to us:

“Who do you say I am?”

Peter wasn’t perfect. But he trusted Christ and kept returning to him.

Our answer isn’t found only in what we say. It’s revealed in how we live.

On Sunday 16 August, we gathered for our annual High Tea to celebrate the feast of St Mary MacKillop.

It was a joyful afternoon where our young adults generously gave their time to serve, sing and share in conversation with parishioners who have contributed so much to our community over the years.

We also gave thanks for the religious women and men who have dedicated their lives to God and his people as sisters, priests and brothers.

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who gave their time, resources and talents to make the afternoon such a beautiful celebration of our parish community.

What do you do when God seems silent?

The Canaanite woman refused to give up. Her persistence became a powerful example of faith.

There are no reserved seats in the Kingdom of God.

end, Fr Andy Nguyen SJ shares a message of thanks to the community he has called home for the past six years.

Throughout his priestly ministry, Fr Andy has served the people of North Sydney with love, compassion and grace. In return, he has received that same love and welcome from the community he has faithfully served.

As Fr Andy begins his tertianship in Manila, we pray that this time of reflection and renewal may be a fruitful one, and that he may continue to grow in his vocation as he prepares to make his final vows as a Jesuit.

Thank you, Fr Andy, for all that you have given to our parish. You will be greatly missed.

On Saturday 8 August, the feast of St Mary MacKillop, we celebrated the ordination of Fr Matthew Pinson SJ.

It was a beautiful celebration of faith, commitment and trust in God. As Fr Matthew begins his ministry as a priest, we pray that his life of faith and service may be an example to all of us, and that he may continue to place his trust in God throughout his journey.

Please join us in praying for Fr Matthew and his priestly ministry.
