Come along for a night of Christmas fun to our Board Games and Pizza Night, and learn more about Student Orthodox Fellowship in Australia! 🎄🤩

We are YOUTH who run societies/clubs for Orthodox students on university campuses, with the aim of connecting university students with the Orthodox Christian faith. ☦️ 😇

Meet other like-minded Orthodox university students and students who plan on going to university next year, and meet SOFIA’s chaplains and our Bishop in charge, His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa ☺️

Meet the Speaker:
Dr Mario Baghos is Lecturer in Patristics and Church History at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, and Chief Publishing Officer of St Andrew’s Orthodox Press. His most recent book is entitled From the Ancient Near East to Christian Byzantium: Kings, Symbols, and Cities (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2021). His next book, Remnants of New Rome: Reflections on the Sacred Topography of Constantinople, will soon be published by St Andrew’s Orthodox Press.

Meet the Speaker:

Father Gerasimos is an historian and is the parish priest at the Greek Orthodox
Church and Community of St George in Rosebay. Father Gerasimos has a Master of Theology and a Diploma of Byzantine Music from the University of Thessalonica,
as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Sydney.
Father was trained in Byzantine ecclesiastical music by the late Demetrios
Sourlantzis, Archon Music Teacher of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, before he
was appointed protopsaltis of the Church of St Theodora in Thessalonica. Upon his return to Australia, Father taught at All Saints Grammar, Belmore, before being ordained to the diaconate and priesthood in 2007. He is also a former lecturer in Church History at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, where he taught for many years. Fr Gerasimos specialises in the late Byzantine and modern history of our church and has presented on various subjects in this field at different tertiary institutions, parishes and youth fellowships. He is also the Orthodox chaplain at the University of Sydney.
