🎉 Expanding Access to Justice in Subiaco ⚖️

Earlier this year, Street Law Centre launched a new legal clinic in partnership with the The Salvation Army WA at The Third Place Subiaco. This is our 11th outreach location in our regular clinic rotation.

The Third Place is a welcoming community hub where people can access meals, showers and a range of essential support services. By bringing free legal assistance directly to the hub, we're helping people access legal support in a familiar and trusted environment.

Since starting the new legal clinic, we've already attended three busy clinics, highlighting the strong demand for accessible legal services in the community. Our supervising solicitor, Anna, has been providing our free legal services at the space.

The hub operates every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm, and we’re currently attending monthly to provide free legal assistance to the community.

It's been fantastic to see the legal clinic so well utilised in its first few months, and we're grateful to the Salvation Army and everyone at the Third Place for welcoming us into the space. 🌟❤️

At The Third Place Subiaco, we've had the pleasure of watching mural artist Jacob Butler (" Shakey ") transform our once blank laneway wall into a vibrant tribute to Subiaco's rich history.

Drawing inspiration from historic photographs, Shakey has woven together moments that celebrate what makes Subiaco so special. The Centre scene pays homage to The Salvation Army Corps Band marching down Rokeby Road to celebrate Subiaco becoming a city in 1952.

Standing by and watching Shakey bring this mural to life over the past month has been a reminder of just how deeply connected our community is to its history. So many people stopped to share stories, memories, and reflections, highlighting the lasting impact The Salvation Army has had in the lives of people in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Subiaco for making this project possible, and to Jacob for his incredible talent and ability to create a space that reconnects people with the history and spirit of Subiaco. This mural will continue to spark conversations and preserve these stories for years to come. Come down and check it out, it really is beautiful!
