Praise you Lord for this Synod and we pray safe travelling home. Beautiful piece re our Bishop Mark, and the tears have started….. but, we are so thankful to have had him as our “shepherd” these past years 🙏📖✝️

Youth will be held at St Laurence Kandos tonight!
Come for great games and food and to hear what Christ teaches us about love from 1 John 3:16. There will also be fire pits to keep warm!

Another highlight of General Synod has been the consideration of the vital ministry of Defence Force and Veterans’ Chaplaincy. Moving stories were shared about the impact of chaplaincy in members’ lives, including people coming to know and put their trust in Jesus. Synod gave thanks for the privilege of Christian chaplains living and ministering among our Defence Force personnel and encouraged clergy and suitably qualified lay people to prayerfully consider Defence Chaplaincy. We also heard of the significant challenges facing veterans and their families and welcomed the continuing Veterans’ Chaplaincy Program. A wonderful reminder of the opportunities to bring the hope and compassion of Jesus to those who serve, and have served, our nation. (Pictured is Navy Chaplain, the Rev’d Cath Wynn-Jones, as she was presenting one of the motions.)

A good solid Bible study this morning, thanks to Lance - thanks to our Bishop for his great lesson on Matthew 14:22-36! His prayer - Heavenly Father, thank you for revealing your Son to us in all his glory. Thank you that Jesus is not merely a great teacher or an inspiring example, but the promised Messiah, your beloved Son, the Lord of creation and the Saviour of the world. Forgive us for the times we make Jesus too small, or make the gospel mainly about ourselves. Help us instead to see him as he truly is and to respond as the disciples did - with awe, worship and wholehearted trust. Thank you that Jesus came not simply to improve our lives, but to save us from our sin, reconcile us to you, and give us eternal life. Help us to depend on him as Peter did when he cried, “Lord save me”. Teach us also to follow our Lord’s example by making time to seek you in prayer. Strengthen our faith, deepen our love for Christ, and fill us with confidence to worship him,serve him, and make him known. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, truly the Son of God. Amen. ✝️
