The Great South Land Unity Ride

The Great South Land Unity Ride A ride to bring unity & peace to all people who choose to call Australia 'home'. But how? WHY? This is their home and they are responsible for its well being.

By bringing all of the nations flags together, represented by the people who now are Australian citizens under the leadership of the Australian flag and the Aboriginal flags. This is a sign to show the world and each other that we are united and accepting of one and another. This is not a sign of authority or control of any nation but to show the great diversity of all the peoples of Australia tha

t have decided to call it their home. To visually show exactly how many countries are represented in Australia. Showcase the depth and enormity of the diverseness of the people of Australia. To hopefully show people that they are Australian, accepted as Australian. To help people know that this is a right worth having and not to feel disjointed and rejected. Hopefully that the traditions of being Australian and what men and woman have given up their lives for is not lost. These people have stood firm on their Christian faith and beliefs throughout the history of Australia. Australia was built by people of great faith. Our faith also tells us that we are to be accepting of people, help the fatherless, the widow, and the orphan and welcome the alien. We are to welcome all people and not lose sight of our Christian faith. Our strength is to hold onto our faith and way of life without judging or condemning people. Christ said that he did not come to condemn the world but came to save what was lost.

From Boorowa, New South Wales we rode out to Rye Park. For such a small community they had great facilities at the camp grounds including a pool table, table tennis and darts. It was by far the coldest night of the ride but it was a great little town with very friendly locals popping by to say g'day. From there we headed for Yass, New South Wales and thanks to the show society we had showers and stables for the horses, check out the rodeo if you're in the area next week. We also celebrated Emily's Birthday with a delicious birthday cake. Yesterday we rode from Yass to Murrumbateman, New South Wales along some backroads. We could see and hear beautiful birds the whole way. We decided to change our route so we could be joined for the first 2kms by a lovely young girl, Charlotte and her shetland pony Destiny and mum Elizabeth. Who did a stellar job keeping up with the unity riders. As we get closer to Canberra we have some concerns with traffic complying with our es**rt vehicle warnings and rider safety and therefore we will be floating the horses for the final leg to Canberra. Did you know on Public roads horses have right of way?
If you are around on saturday make sure to come and join us at EPIC Arena for live entertainment, flag presentation and the Conclusion of The Great South Land Unity Ride. Check out the events page for more information.

Sorry for the break between posts but time again for an update on our journey. On tuesday we left Cumnock, New South Wales and headed to manildra, quiet day but it was great to see so much green. Wednesday we headed from Manildra, New South Wales for Cudal which was a nice short day with Mt Canobolas overlooking the horses in the distance. We stopped in at Cudal Public school and everyone got to pat a horse, it was great for all involved.
From Cudal today we headed for Canowindra, New South Wales via Cargo Public school where one young girl wrote an awesome story about the trip. Unfortunately i didn't get any photos today but will hopefully track some down and share them.
Once we arrived in Canowindra we were enjoying some quiet time when suddenly chairs and tents started flying everywhere along with quite a downpour.
Once we had everything stored away we were treated to a lovely curry dinner thanks to Paula and Crew. It was delicious and just what we needed to keep us warm for the night. We are constantly being surprised by the generosity and aupport being thrown our way. You are all awesome!!!!!

We went for a quick ride around Yeoval, New South Wales, Australia yesterday afternoon and popped in to visit the residents at the UPA. All seemed to enjoy it. We were then treated to a delicious feast by Alf and Sharon Cantrell of the Banjo Patterson, more than just a poet museum for dinner and again for breakfast. Thanks heaps. We really appreciate it. Again make sure you check out the museum if you are in the area or make a detour. The facilities at the caravan and camping stopover are amazing, the show society has done a great job (check out the bathrooms pictured below). We then headed of to Cumnock, New South Wales and arrived safely around Lunch time. Looking forward to a quiet afternoon before heading to Manildra, New South Wales tomorrow!!!
