Capernaum Dawn

Capernaum Dawn "Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. IS IT A CULT? No. No
___WHY NOT GO TO BIBLE COLLEGE? Why not?

CAPERNAUM DAWN is an online ministry its aim is to spread the good news that the just God of the Bible has provided the means for reconciliation with Him in the person of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross.
___IS IT CONNECTED TO A CHURCH? Capernaum Dawn would like to be connected to a church but is not presently.
___WHY CONTINUE THEN? It is a personal answer to the call of the Great Commission.

__IS CAPERNAUM DAWN A CHURCH? Capernaum Dawn does not even have members.
___WHAT BRANCH OF CHRISTIANITY DOES CAPERNAUM DAWN BELONG TO? Reformed Protestantism
___HAVE YOU ACQUIRED BIBLE EDUCATION? There is an equal opportunity to grow inaccurate with doctrine whether you go to Bible college or not. It is possible to learn accurate doctrine through personal Bible study without college. Either way every person who peruses articles, posts, and videos on this page or from any books, sources of doctrinal information outside this page are encouraged to be vigilant for error. Always check with the Bible in prayer. (Be a Berean Acts 17:11)
___WHY THE INTERNET? It is a great thing to use in following the Great Commission. Tyndale and Luther were given printing. Far East Broadcasting Company has radio. MAF has airplanes. We can use television, movies, cameras, satellite feeds, cell phones, tablets. Technology is helpful. Tyndale would have been foolish to ignore printing. I believe it is God who gives vision, wisdom and the means.
___WHY CAPERNAUM DAWN AS THE NAME? The internet is a political and economic crossroad like the Biblical city of Capernaum. Jesus might have chosen it as a base for other reasons but this is what impresses me most and the similarity of the old city to the internet.
___DON'T YOU THINK YOU HAVE TO BE A PASTOR TO DO WHAT YOU'RE DOING? The Great Commission was not directed only to pastors but to every believer of Christ.
___DO YOU ASK FOR MONEY? No.
___DO YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE INFALLIBLE OR DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES? If from your point of view there are questionable posts PLEASE tell me, comment and I’ll look into it. The aim is to build on truth from the Bible, not on anybody’s opinions.
___WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE? Although I package and write the messages/posts my own way I have none I can call my own. I am just a messenger and the message is this: God is a holy and righteous God who demands holiness and has set Commandments as His standards. He will punish in Hell all who fail to keep these commandments. Fail one, you fail all! Those who truly tremble and believe they justly deserve eternity in hell can put their faith on Jesus who died on the cross to pay for their sins. They will not suffer from eternal death in Hell and they will be free and unafraid (of scoffing and persecution) to follow Jesus and be secure in Him.
___WHY DON'T YOU CITE THE VERSES FOR THE POSTS YOU WRITE? Capernaum Dawn desires to bring the Gospel to the un-churched and not to the church choir and present God’s truths to those who hardly open the Bible or are not inclined to be interested to know there is a book of Nahum in the Old Testament. All posts HAVE scripture behind them and if you so request I can give them to you.
___DO YOU THINK YOU WILL MAKE A LOT OF CONVERTS? The aim is to just deliver the Message of the Good News. It is God who quickens the truth and saves. Converting, saving, “winning over”- is not Capernaum Dawn's job. Also, discipleship is best done through your local church.
___DO YOU LIKE DEBATES? I can only defend my hope, I can not persuade people intellectually.
___HOW CAN I SUPPORT THIS MINISTRY? Just share Capernaum Dawn posts after you study/ reflect on them so that we can reach other people. Please ask us questions on the post. Please pray for this ministry. Use the posts as discussion points in the study groups you attend.
___THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ. Blessings,
JEROME

The Messenger: Compassion
I found this picture that reminded me of this touching verse: Matt 9:36. “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Then in Matt 15:32 Jesus, from compassion, fed the five thousand. He was unwilling to send them away hungry “lest they faint on the way.”
Besides hunger: sadness, financial need, disappointment, calamity, etc. will make us faint or lose heart. Compassion might be the last reason a Christian will tell someone of the Gospel eternal hope but it is the most powerful! Responding to an emotional or physical need can go so far. However if an opportunity presents itself, present the good news of Jesus “lest they faint on the way.”-jc

The Golden Rule
Will it be okay for you to underestimate, physically harm, insult, steal from a person you just met? Is it okay for them to do these things to you? Doing unto others as you would have them do to you is a great code to live by. Wouldn't it be good for everyone if respect is always given, and not have to be earned first?

Most people around us will keep our respect. A few deserve more as honour! Some people will (gradually, sometimes instantly) lose our respect and regard. While respect does not favour or condone error, the Bible challenges us to not quarrel with those with differing beliefs or differing human experiences; be kind, be able to teach and be patient. (2Timothy 2:24-26, Galatians 5:22-23). We ourselves also heard the Gospel from respectful people, didn’t we? The Gospel is all simple, loving, usually difficult, uncomfortable to most people we talk to; but it should always be delivered respectfully. -jc

A Time For Everything (Ecclesiastes 3)
There is a timeliness about the delivery of the Gospel message. So we always ask ourselves “when do we speak about it?” Jesus tells us not to cast what is holy to someone who’ll just trample on it (Matt 7:6-7). The Bible says at another point that God did not allow Paul and Silas to minister in Bithynia (Acts 16: 6-7) even though they wanted to. On the other hand, Esther (Esther 4:14) was told that she came to a royal position for “such a time as this”. In the three instances above we learn that 1) not everyone we meet will be prepared to hear the Good News. They will be very hostile to the Gospel. 2) It will be made clear to us when we should not speak and 3) we should be able to sense that a great opportunity to share the Gospel and Truth is right in front of us.
Be encouraged! Ecclesiastes 3 tells us to be joyful and to do good as long as we live! Trust His plans will come to pass in its time.

Two men spent three years with Jesus, heard His sermons, saw His miracles and watched His daily living. Judas Iscariot was not saved. Thomas still needed to see His wounds before he believed that Jesus resurrected.
People do not naturally care to understand the Gospel. It is foolishness to sinful man. I remind myself that not all who hear the Gospel will be saved. Judas heard it from Jesus Himself. Thomas witnessed a whole lot of miracles. There will be people who will get saved and those who will believe in God’s time later. Do not be dismayed. Do not be discouraged. Many people did not give up on you and I! Spread the Good News!

The Runner
We messengers deliver word of the Gospel and His Word shall not return void. His words will achieve their purpose: salvation or indictment without our help. While we should be able to defend the hope that is in us, we cannot argue and convince people into saving faith. It is not an IQ contest.
Godly humility, meekness, courage, perseverance and peace in a messenger’s heart comes from understanding we can only bring the message of the Good News of Jesus. It is God the Holy Spirit who changes hearts and through the hearing of the Gospel that we learn and understand of our need for Jesus Christ.

We do not appreciate enough that there were only eight people in Noah's Ark when the total world population back then was estimated by scholars to be anywhere from 50 million to several billions. Even if there were only a thousand people in the world, eight would be so few. Only Noah knew and spoke of what was going to happen. He must have gone through decades of ridicule for starting the ark project or even periods of deep discouragement. By God’s grace his family heard him, believed and were moved.
Will only a few listen? Yes. Should we stop spreading the Good News? No. We do not know who will listen and who will not. Be encouraged! Salvation is the Lord's! Salvation is not the messengers' responsibility, bringing the Gospel message is (Matt 28:18-20, 2Tim 2:23-26). Judgement is near, repent and believe in Jesus Christ. -jc

He at first mocked Jesus on the cross. But later, the repentant thief beside Jesus understood at least four things:
- He understood he was sinful in the eyes of God and deserved God’s punishment. A contrite and repentant heart comes first before forgiveness.
- He understood the symbols of the lamb offering. He knew that Jesus was innocent and did not deserve to die.
- The repentant thief knew he was going to die in a few minutes. He knew he had no more time to do any redeeming work to earn righteousness, not even make a lamb offering to pay for his sins. He believed Jesus was the only way left for him to enter God’s Kingdom and that his right to do so was based only on the merits of Jesus on the cross.
- He understood he had to ask: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

James Cameron’s movie “Titanic” alludes to the story of Scottish Baptist pastor John Harper on the Titanic who shared the Gospel while the ship was sinking. Makes us think if we have only a few minutes or even seconds to share the gospel, what will be our words to people who are about to die? Do we first discuss about the accuracy of the King James Version of the Bible? Talk about some doctrine heavy on your heart? Or do we tell them judgement is here, repent and believe in the Gospel of Jesus? Hebrews 9:27, 10:31, Matt 4:17 -jc
