As we celebrate Pentecost, we remember the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, filling them with courage, faith, and a fire that could not be extinguished. What began in fear and uncertainty was transformed into hope, unity, and mission. It is often called the “birthday of the Church,” because from that moment the disciples went out to bring the message of Christ into the world.
Pentecost is not only a feast of the past, it is an invitation for today. An invitation to let our hearts be set on fire again with faith, hope, and compassion. May we open ourselves to the Spirit and become witnesses of Christ in our families, our communities, and our daily lives.

“Come, Holy Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”

Congratulations to our 56 young people who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Throughout their journey they have learned more about a deeper faith, the presence of God in their lives, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We pray that they may continue to grow in courage, wisdom, and love as active members of the Church.

This year’s theme, “In the Church there will be flame,” reminds us that the flame of faith continues to burn brightly through the hearts of young people who are willing to say yes to Christ.

May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen them always.

This week we celebrate the feast of St. Herman Joseph of Steinfeld, a humble Norbertine canon whose life was marked by deep prayer, simplicity, and love for Our Lady.

Born into a poor family in Cologne in the 12th century, Herman entered the Premonstratensian Abbey of Steinfeld at a young age. Despite his modest background, he became known for his holiness, humility, and joyful devotion to God. Within the monastery he served faithfully as sacristan, caring for the church and everything needed for the liturgy with great reverence and love.

He received the name “Joseph” because of his profound spiritual love and mystical devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, often described as a spiritual marriage with Our Lady. This deep Marian spirituality shaped his entire life and brought him ever closer to Christ.

St. Herman Joseph was also known for his care for the poor, his gentle spirit, and his gift for prayer and spiritual writing. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in humility, faithful service, and a heart fully given to God.

St. Herman Joseph of Steinfeld, pray for us.

ASCENSION OF THE LORD - As Jesus ascended into heaven, he did not leave his disciples behind in fear or uncertainty. He entrusted them with hope, mission and promise. The Ascension reminds us that Christ is always with us, guiding his Church and calling us to bring his love into the world.

May this feast strengthen our trust in God’s presence and fill us with renewed hope and courage.

Today we celebrate Mother’s Day and give thanks for all mothers and those who have shown us a mother’s love through care, sacrifice, kindness, and faith.

We remember with gratitude new mothers, grandmothers, expectant mothers, single mothers, foster mothers, and all women who nurture and guide others with love. We also hold in prayer those for whom this day is difficult - those who have lost a mother or child, those longing to become mothers, and those carrying silent burdens.

May God bless all mothers with strength, peace, joy, and the knowledge that their love reflects His own tender care.

Happy Mother’s Day to all beautiful and strong women!

5th Sunday of Easter, Year A (May 3, 2026),
the Gospel (John 14:1–12) features Jesus assuring his disciples,
"I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me".
He offers comfort, promising to prepare a place for believers in his Father’s house.
The "Way" implies a life of service, truth, and intimate relationship with God rather than relying on selfish, worldly paths. It is a call to align daily actions and decisions with Christ's example.

Today we remember with gratitude the life and ministry of Fr Augustine Patrick Heron, OPraem

A faithful Norbertine priest, he served with dedication in York, Maddington, and Bentley, and continued his ministry even in retirement at St Joseph’s Priory, Queens Park.

Known for his warmth and joyful spirit, it was said of him that “he never met a stranger.”

In the early hours of 3 May 2004, he fell asleep peacefully in the Lord.

Forever remembered with gratitude by the Norbertine Community, his family, and all whose lives he touched.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

Today we celebrate Catherine of Siena, one of the great Doctors of the Church .
Her life shows us how wisdom and holiness continue to guide us.
Though she had no formal education, her deep union with God gave her extraordinary insight, courage, and clarity in times of confusion within the Church.

Her words still challenge us today:

“Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.”
“Cry out with a thousand tongues - I see the world is rotten because of silence.”

As a Doctor of the Church, she reminds us that holiness is not quiet passivity, but bold love, truth, and action.

St Catherine of Siena, pray for us. 🙏
