24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT

TUESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER

24:7 Midland Youth Group met last week with 38 young people in attendance. The evening began with a range of activities designed to encourage participation, energy and connection before moving into the main faith component of the night. The evening concluded with a shared meal, followed by a variety of informal activities and opportunities for fellowship. This provided the young people with plenty of unstructured time to relax, build friendships and connect with others across the group.

The evening’s main session focused on the Sacrament of Confirmation and was led by Chelsea Hawke, who shared her personal experience of receiving Confirmation as an adult through the RCIA. Speaking from her own lived experience, Chelsea reflected on what initially led her to seek the sacrament, what it meant to make that decision for herself and how the Holy Spirit continues to work in the life of every confirmed Christian.

Chelsea’s testimony provided the young people with a relatable perspective on Confirmation and highlighted that faith is a personal journey that each person is invited to freely choose and embrace. Her story encouraged the young people to consider their own relationship with the Holy Spirit and to recognise Confirmation not simply as the completion of a sacramental process, but as the beginning of an ongoing journey of living out their faith.

The young people were also encouraged to reflect on how they can remain open to the work of the Holy Spirit in their own lives and consider how they might respond to God’s invitation through their choices, relationships and daily lives. Chelsea’s personal testimony provided a meaningful connection between the teaching and the lived experience of faith, giving the young people an opportunity to see how the Sacrament of Confirmation can continue to shape a person’s relationship with God well beyond the day the sacrament is received.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

The next 24:7 Midland Youth Group will take place on Friday, 9 October, during the school holidays. We will be hosting a Games Night, providing a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity for the young people to connect with one another and their leaders outside of the usual school-term rhythm. The evening will focus on fun, fellowship and community, giving the young people space to strengthen friendships, enjoy time together and continue building a strong sense of belonging within the group.

Congratulations to Our Recently Confirmed

A sincere congratulations to everyone who was confirmed last Sunday. We honor this significant milestone in their spiritual journey and pray that the blessings of the Holy Spirit will keep guiding and fortifying them.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to The Very Rev Fr Vincent Glynn for officiating the ceremony and for making this a meaningful and memorable celebration for our community.

24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT

TUESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER

Last week the combined Bassendean and Midland 24:7 Youth Group Pizza and PJs Night welcomed 65 young people for a wonderful evening of fellowship, friendship and community. The event provided a valuable opportunity for young people from both groups to come together, meet new people, strengthen existing friendships and build greater connections across the wider 24:7 ministry.

The evening began with a range of games and icebreakers that encouraged participation, teamwork and interaction between the young people from both groups. The activities created an energetic and welcoming atmosphere and helped everyone feel comfortable engaging with one another. Following the games, the young people enjoyed a shared pizza dinner, which provided further opportunity for conversation and fellowship. The evening also included indoor soccer, dancing activities and informal time together, allowing the young people to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

The event was a great success and was conducted in a positive and welcoming atmosphere. It was particularly encouraging to see the young people from Bassendean and Midland interacting so positively, forming new friendships and building a stronger sense of unity within the wider 24:7 community. The strong attendance also highlighted the value of combined events in providing opportunities for young people to connect beyond their individual youth groups.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

The next Midland 24:7 Youth Group will be held on Friday, 25th September. Chelsea will present a faith formation talk titled “Confirmation: Sent on Mission”, exploring the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the call of every Christian to live out their faith with courage. The session will encourage the young people to consider the gifts and abilities God has given them and how they can use these gifts to serve God and others.

The evening will also include an Encounter Night, providing a dedicated opportunity for guided prayer, reflection and personal encounter with God. The young people will be encouraged to reflect on what they have discovered throughout the term, recognise the ways God has been working in their lives and consider how they can respond more fully to His grace. This will provide a meaningful opportunity to conclude the term by bringing together the themes explored throughout the term with a focus on prayer, mission and deepening their relationship with Christ.
