24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT

TUESDAY 12TH MAY
Last week our youth group gathering was very well attended, with 49 young people present throughout the evening. The night featured a variety of activities and icebreakers designed to encourage engagement, connection, and fellowship among attendees. The atmosphere was energetic, welcoming, and inclusive, allowing both returning participants and those attending for the first time to feel comfortable, involved, and connected within the community.

Throughout the evening, the young people actively participated in games and social activities that helped foster friendships and strengthen relationships across the group. The gathering also included a shared pizza night, which provided an additional opportunity for fellowship and conversation between leaders and young people. This relaxed environment contributed to a strong sense of community and encouraged meaningful interaction throughout the evening.
The main formation talk was delivered by Derek Boylen on the theme “Created With Purpose.” Drawing from Genesis 1:27, “God created man in His image,” the message focused on the inherent dignity, identity, and purpose of every person. The talk emphasised that no individual is accidental, but rather intentionally created by God, male and female, with unique value, meaning, and purpose. Reference was also made to the teachings of John Paul II, particularly within the Theology of the Body, which highlights the dignity of the human person and the importance of understanding identity through God’s design and intention for humanity.

Through the presentation, the young people were encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of their worth and identity in God, while gaining greater confidence in how He sees them and calls them to live. The message challenged attendees to recognise that their lives have purpose and that true identity is found not in the opinions of the world, but in being created and loved by God.

The evening concluded with fellowship time, allowing participants to continue reflecting on the message while further strengthening friendships and connections within the youth group community.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
The next youth group gathering will continue building upon the themes of identity, purpose, and Christian character through a talk titled “Strength Looks Different.” The evening’s main message will focus on Christ as the true model of strength, not through aggression or dominance, but through humility, service, and self-control. Drawing from John 13 and Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, the young people will be encouraged to reflect on how authentic strength is demonstrated through compassion, responsibility, and servant leadership.

The talk will also include a focus on Joseph, highlighting his quiet strength, faithfulness, and sense of responsibility as an example for young men to imitate in daily life. In addition to the formation session, the evening will include opportunities for fellowship, games, and interactive activities designed to encourage participation and connection among attendees. Small group discussions and shared conversations will also provide young people with the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the theme and consider practical ways to apply it within their own lives.

24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT

TUESDAY 28TH APRIL
Our last youth group session welcomed a total of 41 young people and provided a strong and engaging start to the term. The evening featured a range of activities, including games and icebreakers, which fostered a welcoming and energetic environment. These elements contributed to a positive atmosphere that encouraged participation and meaningful connection among attendees. The Youth Mission Team (YMT) was also present, supporting the evening through their leadership and active engagement with the young people.

The central focus of the evening was an introduction to the term theme, “Made for Greatness: Men and Women in Christ.” The talk explored both the shared identity of men and women in Christ, as well as the distinctions within that identity, offering a balanced and accessible framework for understanding human dignity and purpose. Key points highlighted that every individual is created with inherent worth and is called to live out their unique vocation with confidence and faith. Young people were encouraged to recognise their value, embrace their identity in Christ, and pursue a life oriented toward greatness through virtue, relationship, and purpose. These ideas were further reinforced through small group interactions and informal discussions during fellowship, allowing for deeper personal reflection and connection.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Looking ahead, the next Midland Youth Group will take place on the 8th of May. The evening will continue to build on the term theme with a talk titled “Created With Purpose,” presented by Derek Boylen. This session will further explore the foundational concepts introduced previously, with a particular focus on helping young people understand their individual purpose and identity in Christ. The night will also include opportunities for engagement through activities, fellowship, and small group discussion, creating space for both learning and personal connection.

24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT

TUESDAY 14TH APRIL
Last week, 27 young people attended 24:7 Midland youth group for an evening marked by engagement, reflection, and a strong sense of community. The night featured a variety of activities, including a game and then an Easter egg hunt, which contributed to a positive and energetic atmosphere. A highlight of the evening was a testimony delivered by Isabella, centred on the theme of identity and where young people place their sense of worth. The talk explored the tendency to seek identity in relationships, achievements, or material possessions, and how these can ultimately fall short. It emphasised the invitation from God to ground one’s identity fully in Him, and how He works to break down personal barriers that may hinder this.

The key message encouraged participants to reflect on what they are currently placing their value in and to consider embracing a more authentic and lasting identity in Christ. Following the talk, the group entered into a period of silent reflection, supported by guided questions, moments of praise and worship, and time spent in quiet contemplation before a portrait of Jesus. This created a meaningful and prayerful environment for personal response. The evening concluded with a time of fellowship, allowing young people to connect and strengthen relationships in a supportive setting.

On Sunday the 12th, a sausage sizzle fundraiser was held at St Brigid’s Parish following the 9:30am Mass. All proceeds were directed towards supporting food and resources for the youth group, with the event raising over $500. We extend our sincere thanks to the parish and wider community for their generosity and ongoing support, which continues to play an important role in sustaining the youth ministry.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
The next youth group gathering will take place on the 24th of May and will mark the beginning of Term 2. This will serve as a welcome night, introducing the new term theme and setting the tone for the weeks ahead. The evening will include a range of games, activities, and opportunities for fellowship, providing an engaging and positive start to the term.

24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT
TUESDAY 31ST MARCH
At last week’s youth group, 26 young people were in attendance. Due to poor weather and slightly lower numbers than anticipated, the evening was adapted into a games-focused format, creating a relaxed and engaging environment for those present, all of which encouraged strong participation, teamwork, and energy within the group.

Despite the change in structure, the evening maintained a positive sense of community and connection. The night also included valuable fellowship time, with the young people sharing dinner together and celebrating a birthday within the group. This provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction in a more informal setting, helping to strengthen relationships and foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
The next youth group will be held on 10th April and will centre on the theme “Who Defines You?: Encounter Night,” led by Isabella Gethin. The evening will include a reflective component, offering young people the opportunity to engage in guided reflection and encounter Jesus in a deeper and more personal way. An Easter egg hunt, which was previously postponed due to poor weather, will also be incorporated into the program. In addition, the night will include games, fellowship, and a shared meal, continuing to support both community engagement and spiritual growth.

24:7 MIDLAND YOUTH GROUP REPORT
TUESDAY 17TH MARCH
Last week, 37 young people attended youth group for an evening centred on connection, reflection, and community. The night began with a series of engaging games and icebreakers. These activities helped the young people settle in, interact with one another, and build a positive and welcoming atmosphere as the evening began.

The main talk of the night was delivered by Joshua Gethin and focused on the theme of living as a witness in contrast to the expectations often placed upon individuals by the world. Joshua spoke about how modern society frequently measures a person’s worth by outward factors such as appearance, physical image, status, or wealth. He contrasted these messages with the teachings of Christ, emphasising that our true value is not determined by these external measures but rather by God’s love for us and the authenticity of our faith. The young people were encouraged to reflect on what it means to live genuinely as followers of Christ and to recognise that their identity and worth are rooted in Him rather than in the changing standards of the world.

Following the talk, the group moved into a time of fellowship, where participants had the opportunity to relax and continue building friendships. Many enjoyed board and card games, sports activities, and casual conversation while sharing a meal together. This time provided a valuable opportunity for the young people to strengthen their sense of community and support one another in a welcoming and faith-filled environment.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP
The next Youth Group gathering will take place on 27 March and will focus on the theme “Embracing Our Christly Identity in the World.” During the evening, Isabella Gethin will share a personal testimony reflecting on experiences of relationships, isolation, and the enduring presence of God in our lives. The night will also include interactive activities, fellowship, and a shared dinner, continuing to provide meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth, connection, and enjoyment within the youth community.
