Preventing burnout in ministry is essential to save your family. Learn the weekly reset habits that saved my marriage decades ago.

Nearly forty years ago, my wife gave me a warning that changed my life. I was on the path to losing my family, and I had to make immediate changes to my lifestyle and priorities. This video outlines the practical steps I took to stabilise my home life while maintaining my commitment to my work.

We discuss the importance of action and recovery in a high-pressure environment. By implementing a consistent weekly reset, you can create the boundaries necessary to protect your relationships. I also reference specific strategies from the book Preventing Burnout in Ministry, which offers a framework for those feeling overwhelmed by their responsibilities.

If you found this perspective helpful, subscribe for weekly leadership breakdowns and let me know in the comments how you manage your own work-life balance.

I left pastoring to start an irrigation business and discovered a deeper connection with people. Being in their homes and yards allowed for more meaningful interactions than I ever imagined, all while getting paid for work I loved.

For years, I was a full-time pastor, surrounded by Christians. But my calling was to be a missionary to all Australians, right in the community. Starting a small landscaping business meant I entered people's homes and lives more deeply than ever before. This is what real ministry looks like to me now.
