What you value matters. As Jesus said, "Wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
As a community of people following Jesus together, what we value determines the culture of our church, and will set the standard for what it means to follow Jesus for all who are added to us in the future.
We must be on guard against what our enemy is seeking to sow among us. Being clear on what's important to us helps us to resist his evil schemes.
So what do we value?
1. Jesus over Idolatry - As we dethrone every created thing from the highest place in our hearts and exalt Jesus to His rightful place, pursuing total surrender to Him, God is forming our worship into something pure and holy that brings Him glory.
2. Gospel over Performance - We resist the temptation to find our sense of value and worth in our achievements. Instead we embrace our new identity in the finished work of Christ - by grace, through faith.
3. Church over Isolation - Although the world tells us to be independent and free, we know that Jesus is building us into a holy people, set apart for Him. We reject the notion of transactional, disposable relationships and seek to love and serve the people God has planted us among.
4. Kingdom over Apathy - God's Kingdom has come, and has been expanding since the Day of Pentecost. We go all in on helping others follow Jesus, to the end that the nations are discipled, and Christ's glorious Kingdom fills the earth.
Join us over the next few weeks as we continue to explore each of these four values.
