The Lakes Anglican Church

The Lakes Anglican Church The Lakes Anglican Church is a provisional parish in the Brisbane Diocese - incorporating the areas of Griffin, Mango Hill and North Lakes.

You will find on our page insights into a community which invites you to become a part of. This doesn't mean we expect we will see you on Sunday's as many people can still be joined to our community even through a page. What you need to know about us though is this - we aim to "bring everyday people into Christ centered relationships to do God's work together". We hope you might come and be a part of our community today!

A sad day today as we closed The Lakes Anglican Church. Whilst the actual church has closed I will always carry it on my heart and cherish the life long friendships this amazing place gave me the privilege of making in our journey with god.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: At our service next Sunday Morning 18th February at 9:30am we will hold a 5min meeting to officially vote on the closure of The Lakes Anglican Church. As this will likely be our last service together, we invite all those who feel like TLAC has been their home to join with us to worship, celebrate and grieve together.

Since moving to St Paul's Chapel our church has experienced numerous challenges including:
· Widespread vacancies and a lack of priests in the Diocese
· The discontinuation of church planting grants from the Diocese
· The continued lack of direction from the Diocese regarding a physical church in the parish of North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin despite the Diocese owning land there that was presumably for this purpose.
· A strained relationship between the Anglican Schools Commission and the St Paul's school community
· A number of church members reluctantly moving from our church to other denominations due to above issues
· Our lay church leadership experiencing burnout and exhaustion trying to keep the church going indefinitely

TLAC has meant so much to many of us over many years. Let us take time to reflect on how how far we have come and pray for guidance as we go our separate ways. Remember to mourn, but also remember to thank the Lord that we've had such an incredible journey together.

Please join us next Sunday 18th February at 9:30am, at St Paul's School Chapel, Bald Hills. God Bless, The Lakes Anglican Parish Council.

For those who may not have connected with The Lakes Anglican Church in a little while, we just wanted to update you all about our move to St Paul's Chapel at St Paul's School. Over the past few months we have been exploring options as a church community as our costs have increased and we have tried to maintain our presence in the area at the YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre. What was clear was that we really wanted to stay together as a community. After exploring many options, we had an offer from St Paul's School to meet in their chapel which has custom church facilities, large seating capacity and inbuilt audio visual equipment. The church held a general meeting and there was overwhelming agreement that we move to St Paul's Chapel. While our heart is still for the North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin community, we will be meeting on Sundays at St Paul's and hope to physically return to the Lakes area in the future. As we move out of YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre over the next month or so, The Lakes Pantry's management will transition to the YMCA. Lakes Community Youth will continue to meet at the YMCA Mango Hill Community Centre until the end of 2023. We thank everyone for your support as we make this transition and continue on this journey together. God bless and stay connected.

(From Ian) Apologies, have not been able to get the live stream started this morning. Everything seems to be working correctly, though FB not detecting the incoming stream when I start it.

Perhaps time to look at multi-streaming to YouTube also as other churches do.
