MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: James Lane with FEAST

GRLC partners with James Lane as a high school Scripture Teacher in the Fairfield area through FEAST (Fairfield Evangelical Association of Scripture Teaching).

FEAST has been coordinating high school SRE (Special Religious Education) in the Fairfield area since 2007 - and James has been part of the team for most of that time.

We are so thankful to God for His unending faithfulness so that James and his team can now bring the hope of Jesus to ALL 8 high schools in the area! Their team of local church members now regularly teach SRE to hundreds of high school students!

It is the young people in Fairfield finding hope in Jesus that motivates FEAST to keep teaching SRE. These students have found hope in Jesus that they haven’t been able to find anywhere else:

πŸ™Œ The hope of being given their purpose and identity by God, rather than having to carve it out themselves!

πŸ™Œ The hope of experiencing forgiveness from Jesus, rather than living in guilt!

πŸ™Œ The hope of eternal assurance, rather than uncertain religious duty!

Please help James and his team at FEAST keep bringing the hope of Jesus to young people from all sorts of backgrounds by giving to our May Mission Month.

MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Muana & Villy with BMA

Muana and Villy have worked for Baptist Mission Australia (BMA) in Northern Thailand for over 20 years. Their vision is to make the gospel relevant to the local people so they can express their faith in ways that honour God and attract others to Jesus.

Muana provides training to the leaders of local faith communities and pastoral support to two small churches. They also lead the teams in Thailand and Indo-China (Vietnam). Living in rural Thailand, where there were no believers when they first moved there, it's been wonderful to see how this faith community has developed and grown.

Inspired by how Jesus met people where they are, Villy started her 'Beauty and Beyond' ministry. Villy provides hair services to the communities wherever she and Muana go - at churches, at house churches, and at the local community centre. 'Beauty and Beyond' is such a heartwarming ministry where, in addition to pampering the ladies, Villy sometimes has the privilege of working with the Holy Spirit to mend broken relationships with God.

In past years, Muana and Villy have felt led by God to invest in children, as they have seen more and more young people moving away from their traditions and towards secular humanism. Last year’s theme focused on God’s Creation and our responsibility to care for it. Over 100 children had a wonderful time and are looking forward to this year’s program! In many rural areas, churches don’t have regular Sunday school, so this annual event is a special opportunity for children to hear the Word of God in a meaningful and engaging way. The three-day event was filled with joyful singing, fun games, creative crafts, planting and plenty of snacks!

Please help Muana and Villy keep bringing the hope of Jesus to the people of Northern Thailand by giving to our May Mission Month. You can find more information on our Mission webpage (link in bio):

MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Sunshine Hostel and LEBC

The Sunshine Hostel, run by the Lahu Evangelical Baptist Convention (LEBC), provides Lahu children from remote villages with the opportunity to live at the hostel and receive an education. The Lahu are a group of people who are underprivileged and have not had access to good education. So the children of Lahu families come down from the villages to the Sunshine Hostel in the city.

The Hostel was established by the LEBC as part of their vision to lead the Lahu people to Jesus through their children. GRLC has developed a partnership with them to provide financial contributions, help make the premises more suitable and safe, and fund the House Parents to look after the children. We did not start the hostel - this is the vision of the local people, whom we are privileged to work alongside, learn from, and support in various ways.

Last year, we helped them build a new girls' dormitory. The old one was a 2-storey wooden building where the girls were in danger of falling through the floor - there were actually places in the upstairs room where they weren't allowed to walk! The new one is a beautiful brick building with a bathroom and a new metal roof.

This year, we'd love to help them upgrade the electrical systems in their buildings and get their school bus back to working order!

Please help us reach these goals and continue empowering the LEBC and Sunshine Hostel to bring the love of Jesus to the Lahu people by giving to our May Mission Month. You can find more info on our Mission page:

MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Gus & Audrey in Taiwan

GRLC partners with Gus and Audrey in Taiwan, who work with Taiwanese Christians to see marginalised people welcomed into the local church and become disciples of Jesus. Gus and Aud are members of GRLC sent to Taiwan through OMF International. They live in Taichung, the second biggest city in Taiwan.

Most people in Taiwan follow some kind of traditional belief, often fusing ancestor worship, idol worship, Taoism, or Buddhism. A major challenge for someone seeking to follow Jesus is surrendering their old beliefs and traditions while still showing respect and love to their family, who remain entrenched in those traditions.

LoCS (Light of Christ's Salvation Church) is their home church in Taichung. This is a beautiful church, very similar to GRLC, whose desire is to reach out and love those in the community, understanding and embracing life in all its messiness. They also have a community outreach arm, much like Life Care, that serves the marginalised, including the elderly, families, and students.

Gus especially loves volunteering at their church. He gets to hang out with kids who come to LoCS after school as a safe space to have a meal, do homework, play games, sing karaoke, and learn about Jesus. He also loves attending their men's Bible study fellowship, which gathers every Sunday to eat lunch, drink tea, eat snacks, read and study the Bible, and share and pray together. All the men in this group have experienced (or are experiencing) hardship of some form, so there is a mutual understanding, empathy, and support among them.

Audrey is one of the team leaders of the Pearl Family Garden. She and her team visit the streets in the red light district of Taichung in the hopes of befriending women in prostitution and sharing the love and light of Jesus with them.

Please help Gus and Aud bring the hope of Jesus to the men and women of Taiwan by giving to our May Mission month. You can find more info on our Mission webpage:

MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: ZOE Australia & International

GRLC partners with David Cross at ZOE Australia to support the prevention, rescue and rehabilitation of children affected by child trafficking in Thailand, Japan, the US, Mexico and Australia.

ZOE works to end child trafficking in three ways: prevention, rescue, and restoration. Their goal is to rescue children from human traffickers and provide them with opportunities and support for a new path and future.

ZOE has developed a large network of local law enforcement, social workers, teachers, pastors, community leaders, former ZOE staff, and former ZOE Leadership Training students to serve as their β€œeyes and ears” and report possible trafficking cases. This network has been crucial to stopping human trafficking before it even occurs!

The support provided by ZOE, working alongside law enforcement and government and non-government agencies, varies by country of operation, based on the specific needs and requests of law enforcement officials. ZOE may help gather evidence prior to a rescue, assist with a rescue operation, provide translation services, or support child advocacy services once a child has been rescued.

When a rescued child is taken to ZOE, they begin their restoration journey. Children are placed in a safe home where they receive medical care, counselling, education, vocational training, and unconditional love. The goal of ZOE’s Restoration Program is to help restore the lives of human trafficking survivors and help them heal from their past. ZOE’s holistic restoration programs support the development of children in the areas of their mind, their body, and their spirit.

Please help ZOE keep bringing the hope of Jesus to children around the world by giving to our May Mission Month. You can find more information on our Mission webpage (link in bio):
