Buckle up and book it in...
A special day of remembering who we are - how we've been shaped and how we are moving forward.

Aidan brought the good news of God's love in Jesus Christ to the people of Northumbria, northern England. In the seventh century.
He served, loved, and preached, and then withdrew to pray. His impact helped shape a nation. His model of ministry still speaks to the hearts of people today.

May we together share that same mission in today's culture, in the heart of Parkdale neighbourhood.

This couple visited us in June.
Now in Ukraine for the coming five months in front line medical aid.
Pray and give as you are able....

We're back in Ukraine — for five months this time.

Getting here meant three suitcases repacked more times than I'll admit, and a border crossing made much easier by an NGO-arranged car: fixed by volunteers in Poland who repair donated vehicles and send them across, this one headed for the Azov Battalion to help evacuate the wounded.

At the border, a queue of truck drivers who'd clearly been waiting for hours waved me straight to the front the moment they heard "humanitarian." Small kindnesses like that stay with you.

Since arriving, we've had a record heatwave, two power outages, and water issues tied to the electricity supply — plus a fair amount of Ukrainian bureaucracy, including a residency application that suddenly required an original charity certificate nobody had told our partner org about. Underneath all of it, Kyiv has had no quiet days this week.

Air raid sirens have sounded almost daily, and this week Ukraine lost people who should still be here — a grandmother, grandfather, and their three-year-old grandson near Brovary; eight people on a railway platform; a 20-year-old volunteer, Vitalina Yarovenko, killed helping others in a deliberate second strike.

July was the deadliest month for civilians since the war began.

That's exactly why we're here. Full update, including a very sweet visit from our friend Jaan (an Estonian pastor we first met volunteering with us in Kowanyama), is on the blog now — https://www.passingthrough.net/back-in-ukraine-26-27-mission/

If you're curious what your support actually buys on the ground, no pressure at all, we'd love to show you: passingthrough.net/donating 🇺🇦

Thank you, Dawn!
A service of thanksgiving for the life of Dawn Mackay - Friday August 21 at 11.00am at St Aidan's.
Dawn, and husband Jim, were long time members, worshippers and workers.
We give thanks for her life and legacy, as we leave her in the hands of the Risen One.

"...as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22)
