What an incredible Book Week! This year’s "Catch the Reading Bug" theme was a massive hit, and the love for reading was truly contagious across every classroom.

Week Highlights

📚Character Parade: Thursday's parade saw students going to great lengths with their costumes, showcasing their creativity.

📚Library Transformation: The library was specially decorated to match the theme, creating an exciting space for students to explore during lunchtime and after school.

📚Annual Book Fair & Activities: Reading turned into a truly social celebration with colouring competitions, activities, and an uptick in students buying and borrowing books.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Book Week so vibrant!

Tiny Houses, Huge Ideas!

Our high schoolers recently completed an incredible inquiry unit, Tiny by Design - stepping into the shoes of architects, interior designers, and electricians!

To bring their dream tiny homes to life, students worked through the entire design process:

- Researched innovative tiny home designs
- Created vision boards
- Drafted multi-angle floor plans and architectural sketches
- Built 3D physical models from scratch
- Wired working electrical circuits to literally light up their creations!

With a strong focus on sustainability (like incorporating solar energy) and mobility, these models were as eco-friendly as they were clever.

To top it all off, the Year 4 class came through to check out the finished models! They toured the mini-neighbourhood, marvelled at the glowing lights, and asked brilliant questions about how the designs were built.

A huge congratulations to our high school innovators for their hard work, creativity, and impressive craftsmanship!

Our chooks are easily the biggest stars of our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program!

Our feathered friends play such an important role in our garden ecosystem. Through the program, our students love:

🐓Caring for the flock – learning responsibility through feeding, watering, and coop care

🐓Eco-friendly gardening – seeing how the chooks help turn our garden scraps into rich compost

🐓Harvesting fresh eggs – collecting farm-fresh eggs to use directly in our kitchen cooking sessions!

From learning where our food comes from to getting a little extra feathered affection during outdoor time, our kitchen garden program continues to bring hands-on learning to life.

A big thank you to our hardworking student helpers and volunteers who keep our garden blooming and our chooks happy and clucking!

Fast Breaks & Unstoppable Energy: 5/6 Boys District Basketball! 🏀

Our Grade 4/5 boys put together a great run at Monday’s District Tournament, going toe-to-toe with tough competition and staying right in the mix all day—huge thanks to our coaches for keeping them focused, our parents for holding down the bleachers, and the whole squad for representing our school so well!

Floor Dives & High Fives: 4/5 Boys District Volleyball! 🏐

Between the dive-and-save hustle, high-five reset energy after every single point, and serves that barely cleared the tape (in the absolute best way), they played with heart from the first whistle to the last set.

Huge thanks to the coaches for keeping them grounded and the sidelines loud. You made us proud, boys! 👏

What a fantastic Athletics Day at Henderson College!
🔴Congratulations to McGrath on taking the win! 🔴

Last Thursday was a beautiful day filled with fierce competition, incredible school spirit, and outstanding sportsmanship across the track and field. Everyone gave it their absolute all!

Highlights from the Day:

Unstoppable Energy: A huge shoutout to our student section for bringing the noise and cheering on every single competitor.

True Sportsmanship: An inspiring display of teamwork, encouragement, and high-fives at the finish line.

Record Breakers: Congrats to all the athletes who pushed their limits and set new personal bests!

A massive thank you to Ms. Johnson, our hardworking staff, volunteers, and parents who made this event run so smoothly. We couldn't have done it without you!

CELEBRATING NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK! 🌱

What an incredible week of discovery we’ve had so far! To celebrate National Science Week, our students have been diving hands-first into the wonderful world of botany, bio-energy, and seed science during lunchtime interactive workshops.

Shoutout to our Year 7/8 Basketball Squads!

Huge round of applause for all our students who competed in the Interschool Basketball Tournament yesterday!

Our Year 7/8 Girls put in a fantastic effort on the court, showing incredible hustle, determination, and improvement in every single game.

Our Year 7/8 Boys fought their way through a tough field all the way to the Finals! While they came up short of the win, their grit and energy were top-tier until the final buzzer.

Beyond the scores, we are exceptionally proud of the outstanding teamwork, and respect shown by all our players throughout the day.

A big thank you to the other schools in our region for a great day of competitive basketball and to all the coaches, referees, and supporters who made the event possible!
