ANZAC DAY 2026 Hervey Bay
Despite the rain sheeting down like there was no tomorrow for a couple of hours, it was a great morning I would not have missed for anything. Col Missingham and I were there to lay a wreath on behalf of the local Ministers Association. As an Association we have a wonderful relationship with the RSL going back many years, who donate invaluable time and effort, expertise and financial support to a lot of local charities and community groups, including the annual Carols evening in December, which the Association runs the program for. They assist us with much of the logistics that has made the Carols night so popular over the years, making it currently the largest outdoor event on the Fraser Coast Council Calendar. Council also generously sponsor the event.

However we were there to honour the bravery and sacrifice of our defence personnel, past and present - lest we forget - and in that regard it was both moving and memorable.

Since then the flu, or whatever wog I caught from somebody, and was just about getting over, came back in full force after the wet morning. Either that, or the vaccines we had the week before were doing their job! Being of a generous disposition I seem to have inadvertently shared it with Kate as well, so we’ve had a week of feeling pretty miserable. Kate more than me as I was getting over it but she just came down with in after the weekend and has spent most of this past week in bed. Thus the late posting!

Pics are the best I could do with an umbrella in one hand and my iPhone camera in the other (with thanks to Julie for the long shots as we were laying the wreath).

IMPORTANT NEWS - to our FB friends and supporters.
Kate and I have decided that we need to lay aside the vision for Pathway Church in favour of becoming a part of an established church in Hervey Bay – New Life Christian Church.

We've now been in Hervey Bay for two years. Over this period we’ve found great acceptance with the local Minister’s Association, and was recently asked to serve in the position of treasurer. We have found friendship and support with this amazing group of local pastors who meet regularly as a group, and who pray for and support one another in the most exceptional way I have experienced in over 30 years of pastoral ministry. They are a practical and very effective witness to the local community of how churches can be united in a genuine way without compromising individual identities.

Last year I was also invited, quite unexpectedly, to join the board of a local Christian School, which I excepted. These roles have become quite time consuming in and of themselves, but I know they are part of God’s plan for bringing us to Hervey Bay in the first place.

For some time we've been considering if there was a local church we could become part of, with a vision we could connect with, and a leader we could respect and serve. Turns out there is.

This is not a decision taken lightly, with much prayer and deliberation going into arriving at this point. We are of the view that Col Missingham, senior pastor at New Life Church, is someone God has uniquely called to Hervey Bay for a purpose that we feel God is asking us to be part of.

We will be making some significant changes to the website and our page, and the name 'Pathway Church' will become 'Pathway Ministries' in the new 2026 financial year (1st July 2026) to more accurately reflect the refocusing of our vision going forward. We are not leaving the ministry, just becoming part of an existing church, refocusing our time and efforts on this new direction God has opened up for us.

God bless, Tony & Kate Case

IRAN - ON THE CUSP OF A NEW BEGINNING
I don't like writing long FB posts, preferring summaries that point you to our website where all our blogs are easy to find, read and share. But as the situation in Iran right now is current , very extremely dynamic, and has critical world relevance, Israel and Christians everywhere, I've posted it here in full. Links to the website and blog pages are included below as well. I've added a great flag graphic someone created for the 2022 uprising in Iran which includes a dove as the centrepiece instead of the Islamic flag symbol or the former Lion symbol promoted by civilian protesters, which I suspect will be on the new Iranian flag is the much needed regime change proves successful. God bless.

FREEDOM, DEMOCRAY AND EQUALITY
Overnight (Sat, 28 February) we saw the beginnings of a military offensive by Israel and the US that essentially seeks to replace the existing theocratic Islamic terror regime of the past 47 years with a more democratic, liberal and secular model. It also shows the depth of international concern over the regime’s terrorist activities, both direct and via proxy.

The hoped for outcome of this war for the heart and soul of Iran is that the Iranian people will have a voice once more and not be oppressed, and slaughtered, by their own government to keep them in check. Its early days yet, but as Christians we should be praying for the freedom and safety of the people of Iran, praying and believing for a more successful change of regime than we saw in Afghanistan or Iraq, or many other Arab Spring and Winter countries. Of course Iran is Persian, not Arabian, but the desire for regime change is the same.

As Sunday unfolded Iran fought back, though they are no longer the regional power they once were and the US clearly controls the air and the sea. Later in the day it was announced that the supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, an evil man following a draconian ideology who has now gone to meet His maker and learn the difference between truth and lies. He was killed in the initial bombing, along with a good number of Iran’s most senior leadership. As I write this much is still undetermined, and this war may go or for days, weeks or months yet, but with the US and Israel in the picture it is highly likely the Iranian people may soon see their Berlin Wall day, despite calls from typical critics for it all to end before it has really begun.

TRUE FREEDOM ALWAYS HAS A PRICE
I am not a warmonger by any means, and like nothing more than a peaceful and secure life. I thank God for Australia, my adopted home, with its solid western Judeo-Christian heritage, values and freedoms too-often taken for granted. We have much to be thankful for as a people.

My parents were young teenagers when war broke out with Germany in 1939 - too young to be called up. But as soon as they were old enough both joined the Army at the close of WW2 because that was what people did back then. Mum was never posted overseas but Dad was, and as a soldier travelled to many foreign countries, mostly in the Middle East, but also Japan as a peacekeeper, finally Korea, where war broke out in 1950. He ended up being wounded by enemy fire and sent home to recover, which turned out to be the end of his army career. It was his generation’s Vietnam. It is the sacrifice of many that has earned us the freedoms we enjoy today, and as Anzac Day fast approaches we do well to remember, lest we forget.

BRAVERY BEYOND MEASURE
The bravery of the Iranian people is extraordinary, and inspirational. They cannot realistically overturn the Iranian regime on their own, but gave it their best shot at a very high price in death and injury at the hands of their own government forces. Such bravery obviously inspired the support they finally needed on Saturday, and now regime change is a realistic possibility. We could say the same for the people of Ukraine. Like the Battle of Brittain where England faced impossible odds with Hi**er controlling most of Europe, it is still possible for the David’s of this world to slay the Goliaths, and for good to conquer evil. However, there is always a cost, and the Ukraine people are still facing that every day, fighting a different type of evil the that we pray God will one day deal with.

There is much more to come from this historical event unfolding before our eyes, but for me and my house we support the Iranian people in their efforts for freedom, a secular democracy and equality. We also oppose just about everything that represents radical Islam, which is anathema to our Western Judeo-Christian democracy, and completely incompatible with our way of life in Australia and the West.

TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING
While our blogs are primarily about biblical topics and encouragement, such momentous things happening on the world stage are hard to ignore. What we should always bear in mind, however, as believers, is that God is always in control. Nothing that happens anywhere, or for any length of time, is above or beneath His divine attention. Neither is it free from His divine intervention if He chooses to engage. Like the clever but complex lyrics of Bob Dylan’s 1964 folk-protest song, “The Times They Are A-Changing”, we want to believe times are a-changing for the people of Iran, and for the better.

Often we can only see what is going on in our corner the world - those things that affect us directly – but when God starts to work His wonders it can range from the small and personal to international, world changing events. Such is the breadth and depths of the God we serve. When that occurs change is inevitable. Just look at what happened to Egypt and Babylon in biblical times. The Thessalonians also complained bitterly about the Christians that were “turning the world upside down” (Acts 17:6), referring to the impact of Paul and Silas’ teaching, accusing them of causing global chaos and defying Caesar by proclaiming Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

We are certainly living in interesting times! When such times come our way it is always best not to forget that this world, and all who dwell in it, ultimately belong to Him:

“The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers” (Psalm 24:1-2)

“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine” (Psalm 50:10-12)

Man has great freedom to use or abuse that which God has entrusted into our care. We are not owners of anything, only stewards, who will one day be called to give an account (Rom 14:12). The godless will eventually fall, and be judged accordingly to their works and faith choices unless they repent and seek the forgiveness only Jesus can offer, because He bears a name that is above every name and will not be mocked forever:

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil 2:9-11)

So let us pray for Iran, for the Iranian people and what they must face in coming days, and for a godly outcome to this war that the eyes of the world are now very much focused upon.

MERRY CHRISTMS FROM ISRAEL
In this crazy, confused world we seem to live in today, misinformation and paid agitators seem to dominate all the news feeds! The awful terror attack by Hamas on Israel in Oct'23 triggered a wave of so-called pro-Palestinian protests in Australia and elsewhere while our government and authorities were asleep at the wheel, along the way subtly approving the slaughter and antisemitic protests by recognising Palestine as a State, which it isn't and probably never can or should be in reality. Then the Bondi massacre came to our shores and showed us it was time to say "enough" with the placards and antisemitism, the ignorance and tolerance of evil.

If you view the video I have uploaded with this post you will see that there is far more to connect Australia, and especially Christians, with Israel than with Palestinians or Hamas, but you would not have thought so listening to the media, watching the unbearably hateful protests and bemoaning weakness of our authorities. This is also true to the rest of the Western Judeo-Christian world with regard to Israel.

Since the Bondi Tragedy something has changed in the national conversation, and not just in Australia. This new wave of nationalistic support is not right-wing radicals, it’s the silent majority saying, “We’ve had enough”! And it’s about time.

I will be posting more blogs on our website about this topic as time goes by, but for now I want to share with you a video from Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu before we get too far away from Christmas. I believe it is an important declaration of how Israel view Christians, and the Christian faith, with some interesting facts regarding Islam in and modern times. It highlights Israel’s attitude to other faiths, especially Christianity, and why we need to keep supporting Israel as Christians.

Times are changing. The dawn of a new era may well be upon us. Our Western Judeo-Christian culture may yet be saved if we have courage enough as a nation to speak out and stand with the truth.

Since Bondi I have made a personal decision to support Israel and not be one of those who sits on the fence. The enemy doesn't, and neither should we. With the overwhelming animosity we see around Australia today from an extremely loud minority of troublemakers, the silent majority needs to find its backbone, and so do our politicians before we are overwhelmed with radical antisemitism, and what happened at Bondi happens again somewhere else. God forbid!

If I see a reel or article I consider motivating or inspiring I plan to share it. I've always believed God has His hand on Israel, as do many Christians. Whatever comes next, I'm confident Israel will survive, and thrive, because God is with them...

IT’S A BRAND NEW YEAR!
On the cusp of a new year now upon us, it’s good to have a musical reminder that 2026 is brimming with possibilities - and expectation. A year ahead packed with opportunities just waiting to be discovered - if we have hearts open to picture such things, and faith to believe in a God of possibilities. A much better outlook to have than doom and gloom and negative expectations in my view.

From me and mine, here’s praying and believing for a great 2026 to anyone reading this and watching this great video … God's richest blessing on you all!
