The Girls' Brigade Tasmania

The Girls' Brigade Tasmania The Girls' Brigade is an inter-denominational Christian organisation for girls aged 5 -21. The Girls' Brigade is a world-wide, uniformed organisation for girls.

In Tasmania, there are currently three GB companies; two in Hobart and one in Launceston. GB companies in Tasmania meet weekly during the public school terms to participate in an age appropriate, Biblically based and culturally relevant program that covers a wide variety of subjects. Girls are separated into four age-based units: Cadets are girls aged from 5 years to Grade 2; Juniors are girls in

grades 3 - 6; Seniors are girls in grades 7 and 8 and Pioneers are girls from Grades 9-12. Once a girl turns 18, or completes Grade 12, they have the option to become a Young Leader. Young Leaders assist the Unit Leaders in preparing and delivering the program, whilst preparing to make the transition from girl to leader. Companies are led by a Captain and run by a group of enthusiastic, Spirit-filled Leaders. GB Tasmania is ALWAYS on the look out for any interested women to help make GB possible!

Saturday the 15th of November Her Excellency the Honourable Barabar Baker AC presented Dr Robyn Bosveld, Mrs Georgia-Alice Woolley, Miss Katisha O'May and Miss Laura Durdin with their Queens Award.
This was held at the Southern Presbyterian Church with family and friends presents.
A devotion was given by Mrs Sally Townsend. Pastor Hall prayed for all the girls and the governor and the conclusion of the evening.

At Glenorchy Girls' Brigade we are running a fundraiser to help support those in the company going to Fonomarae 2024. We are offering an iron on transfer celebrating 130 years of Girls' Brigade world wide.
You can order hankies, pillowcases and cotton bags all for $4.50 each. If you would like just the transfer they are $1.00 each. Once we receive your order it will be made for you. If you require it to be posted we will add that onto the invoice. Once payment is made your article will be posted.

I had an email this past week from a lady who had some uniforms from the 1990’s. Jayne’s daughters went to 3rd Hobart when it was being help at St John’s Presbyterian.
The uniforms have been well cared for. 😀
