We warmly invite you to join us on a special pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a tour of the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre.

This will be a grace-filled opportunity for prayer, reflection, and deepening our sense of community as we walk together in faith.
I encourage you to visit our parish website for further details about the day.

🌸 Jubilee Year Spring BBQ – Celebrating Community & Togetherness!

We enjoyed a fantastic turnout for our combined parish Spring BBQ on Sunday 5 October, with approximately 125 people coming together to enjoy good food, great company and community spirit. There was no shortage of delicious food.

From BBQ sausages and pulled pork rolls with coleslaw to a huge fragrant Lebanese chicken and rice dish generously donated by JuJu’s Deli. Our parishioners rounded out the feast with an impressive array of homemade sweets and desserts.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, particularly Moses and Susie Ei-Fahkri. A special thanks to our BBQ crew who kept the sausages sizzling, and the dedicated team in the kitchen who cleaned up and thoughtfully packed takeaway parcels for people to enjoy at home so no leftovers went to waste.

A big thank you to our generous sponsors for donating prizes to our lucky draw: Restaurant (752 High St Thornbury), Hotel (429 Heidelberg Rd Fairfield), and Delight Fairfield (88B Station St). Thank you for your community spirit and for adding to our celebration.

🎉Congratulations to our lucky winners & Prize Sponsors 🎉

🏆 1st Prize - $200 voucher (Isme Restaurant) - (Adrian), St Anthony’s

🥈 2nd Prize - $150 voucher (Grandview Hotel) - Curran-Fernandez family (won by Joseph), Holy Spirit.

Reading today (1 Timothy 1:1-2, 12-14; Ps 15(16):1-2, 5, 7-8, 11 Luke 6:39-42.) remind our daily lives, it is often easier to point out what others could do better than to ask how we ourselves might grow. Jesus reminds us that true discipleship begins not with criticism of others but with honest reflection on our own hearts.
Paul knew this deeply. Once a man convinced of his own righteousness, Paul was transformed when he encountered Christ. His plans, his career, his reputation, everything changed. And yet Paul did not see this as a loss, but as a gift of mercy. Writing to Timothy, he expressed gratitude for God’s patience and encouraged Timothy to be steadfast in faith.
That same writing comes to us. Are we open to letting God shape our lives, even if it means rethinking our priorities or our ambitions? In a world that prizes control and certainty, discipleship asks us to surrender control and trust the wisdom of Christ.
So let us learn from each other, not to critique others, but to let God search our hearts. And when we do, may we also lift others up, affirming their gifts. In this way, we grow together as a community of faith, being shaped not by our own agendas, but by the mercy and example of Christ.
