Oat vetch and wheat are this years crop, it’s coming along well, despite the rain, we just now need some good sunshine to keep it flourishing. As you can see from one image, it has been a wetter than usual winter, last year it was the complete opposite. Farming always at the mercy of Mother Nature.

The crop is coming along, it has though been an extremely wet year we have not been able to get onto the paddocks to spread urea or fertilise as we usually would, unlike last year where it was drought and the grounds were so dry, this year is our first year at engaging a drone to spread over the crop and it’s pretty impressive. Farming has so many variables year to year it’s takes energy commitment and risk to farm, so it’s important to support Australian Farming, Australian Regions, Australian products when and where you can.

Just finished sowing wheat, oat and vetch and our first attempt at triticale 🤔 the rain has started to fall just when we finished so perfect timing we just need the weather and war gods to be kind to us as farming each year produces its own challenges already 🫤let alone now the fuel cost and fertiliser costs impacting farmers 😕 it’s a concern, we certainly need to be more self reliant so as a country we can continue to farm and do many things without being at the mercy of overseas matters that arise and they will happen again and again so let’s hope we learn 🤞support Australian Farmers - we are proudly Australia owned and operated, small business family farm, it matters 🙏

This is a busy time over the next few weeks as we prepare for the sowing of crop, with lime and gypsum being delivered in bulk, this will help to fertilise the paddocks prior to seed being sown.

After a very stressful start to the year with the fires at Longwood not too far at all, impacting the area and so many close by, it was devastating, we now face fuel issues and the supply of urea as we see our country lacks in self reliance for these items, it was droughts last year who knows how this year will unfold 🤔 no doubt another interesting year ahead, all the more reason for people to shop local support local support communities support Australian businesses 🙏
